Hi Jason….Isn’t Tier registration based on ratings considered open to the public? Cedar Creek, also an A-Tier, allowed all to register that were above the tiered rating. Can you clarify?

It’s a delicate balancing act. I think the trick is is to set your tiers higher next time. Set them too low, and you have more players meeting the criteria than slots available, which is understandably confusing to someone who just sees that they r rated high enough to register. It’s a delicate balancing act. I think the trick is is to set your tiers higher next time. Set them too low, and you have more players meeting the criteria than slots available, which is understandably confusing to someone who just sees that they r rated high enough to register. Out here, 1000 for open and 970 for other Mixed Pro divisions seems to do the trick. I’m looking forward to playing the Majestic for the first time this year.

So just because we didn’t get in before others even if we meet tier qualifications we have to wait for general public. I’ve never heard anything like that before.. :(

Just because you meet tier qualifications, doesn't mean you are guaranteed a spot. Tiered registration was created by the PDGA to allow the higher tiered players in a division first crack at registration. If the spots could be taken by people who met the tier qaulifications, then noone with a lower rating would ever get in, which is why the PDGA created the policy

No worries at all Ellie. I understand the frustration and question. Doing tiered registration is a dance for sure, but it is a response to the outcry from last year when higher rated players didnt get in because a bunch of local AMs filled the field.

A Hole sponsorship allows a player to register before the ratings tiered window (essentially guaranteeing your entry). The hole sponsor info will appear on a hole sign.
