The Players Manual can be found on the Event website: https://bit.ly/ladies-of-the-creek
Details from original date:
This event was built on the idea of growing the sport of disc golf in the women's divisions with a strong desire to create something special that women of all abilities can participate in.
We would like to take a moment here to thank the important and tremendous efforts Chris Ozolins and Steve Foster have put in, to run this event year after year. These two have continued to make improvements pushing this event to become a continued success that women look forward to every year. Chris and Steve have always advocated for the importance of creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for women to meet other women and engage in a fun day of disc golf. Without their continuous promotion, support, and leadership, the women's field and growth in Ontario certainly wouldn't be where it is today. A really big thank you to both Chris and Steve for handing this responsibility off to our local women's club (Formally the Bronte Beauties).
This will be the 5th edition of the Women's Global Event (established in 2012). This biennial event (occurs every 2 years) continues to break records as the largest PDGA event for a single demographic within the sport of disc golf. In 2018 there were 80 registered tournaments, spanning 39 states and 14 countries with a combined turnout of 2092 women competing in 23 different PDGA divisions. We can break that record again in 2021!
On May 8th and 9th, women from all around the world will play two rounds of disc golf at their local participating PDGA Women's Global Event. Scores from both rounds of each participating tournament will be submitted, totaled, and averaged to determine the player's "Global Score." The global results will be updated throughout the day to determine our PDGA Women’s Global Event Champions and the winner in each division will receive a memorable trophy.
Tee Times:
We will be aiming to have a standard shotgun start but if not possible due to Covid restrictions we will be moving to a tee times layout. We will update the players with ample time before to plan for a revised schedule.
Layout:
We will use the short tee pads to the yellow prodigy baskets for both rounds. Both rounds must be played on the same layout so this will not change throughout the day.
Divisions:
F represents Female to indicate this is a gender protected division.
A represents amature to indicate this is an amature division.
P represents professional to indicate this is a professional division.
M represents masters to indicate this division is age protected please note you can join the masters division the year you are turning that age even if you have not had your birthday yet
#'s represent the level of the amature division OR the age protection for that division
Please note the below descriptions are guidelines ONLY. Anyone is welcome in the division they feel fits them best regardless of their age, ability, or experience. Age protected divisions such as junior or masters are optional, meaning you are not required to play in that division if you feel a different division better suits your needs. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about divisions!
Novice (FA4) $30:
This division is for brand new players who have not competed before. It is recommended you sign up for this division if you have little to no experience playing disc golf. We will offer instruction to all players who wish to attend a morning-of-event instruction and rules-of-disc golf briefing. This is meant to introduce you to the sport, get a set of discs in your possession, and provide you with a low-pressure, female-dominated environment in which to try the sport.
Beginner (FA3) $35:
This division is intended for women who are fairly new to the sport but who have played more than a handful of times. Typically players in this division will throw anywhere from 50 to 100 feet with their drives and can be quite sporadic with their putting accuracy. This is meant to introduce you to a more competitive setting within the sport of disc golf while still engaging in a fun and leasurlie round.
Intermediate & Age-Protected (FA2) $35:
This division is for more experienced players who are looking to improve on their competitive success. Attendance at the pre-tournament clinic and briefing aren’t necessary but welcomed with open arms. There’s no such thing as too much practice, and maybe you’ll hear something you haven’t before. Players in this division can typically throw their drives 100-200 feet off the tee, and will hit 4-6 putts out of 10 from 20 feet, demonstrating a degree of consistency with their putting.
Advanced (FA1) $35:
If you’re playing Advanced, you’ve had some tournament experience and are eager to further develop your game and level of competition. There is a pronounced increase in driving and putting consistency when compared to the FA2 division. Players can typically drive 200+ feet and will make 6+/10 putts from 20 feet.
Pro (FPO) $35:
If you’re playing pro, you already know the drill. You might not even be reading these descriptions by now! Players in this division can consistently drive 250+ feet and will make upwards of 8/10 of their putts from 20 feet. Players in this division will have the option to purchase the full WGE players pack in addition to other goodies when they register, otherwise, as the name suggests, they’re playing for their payout.
Players Pack:
A players pack is a collection of items you will receive just for signing up for this event!
Please note only the first 70 people registered for the amature and junior divisions will receive a PDGA WGE player pack. Each player pack will include a WGE stamped Dynamic Discs Judge, WGE stamped Innova Disc, WGE Disc Golf Pin, Canvas Bag, Towel, Disc Golfer’s Code Reusable Scorecard, Pencil, and more! WGE players packs will be available for Professional divisions to purchase the day of the event on a first come first serve basis (depending on how many we have left).
Prizing
All divisions will be competing for trophies for the top finishers as well as a tonne of supplemental prizing for longest putts, CTP’s, draw prizes, etc. and cash for the pros!
Lunch:
We will announce details about lunch opportunities! less
