The Highlander Classic is Here!
Bigger, badder, faster, stronger, more mandos , more OBs, more gooder, more cream filling! Wait.. right, disc golf. Lots to take in, but you'll really want to read to the end.
Event Details + Registration
Alright we're getting close to filling up. Event dates are August 19 & 20 and both rounds are at Fort Tuthill. If you know someone on the fence, push 'em over! And if you know any Juniors or Women just starting disc golf, tell 'em it's free! Send them my way and I'll take care of the rest.
Sponsors + Vendors
Let this be the first of many thanks to our sponsors Findlay Toyota, Dynamic Discs Phoenix, Swire Coca Cola, Cambium Wealth, Majestic Marketplace, and Great Circle Media. Their support makes this event happen. They make the donations, fill your payouts, keep you fed and hydrated, and help make some sick players packs. Many without a single round played. Think about inviting someone new the next time you head out for a round.
I'm still working on gathering donations for Shadows and filling your players pot. So send any potential sponsors my way, they'll be in great company and part of an event you won't forget.
Speaking of...Come thirsty because Grand Canyon Brewery is coming to turn it up this year with more everything! Before, during and after your rounds Be ready for Sugar Skull's eats, ice cream from Timberline Ice Cream, beverages to keep us cool from Swire Coca Cola, and a BBQ potluck on Sunday. Got a recipe that can't be beat? Bring it, we want to try it! There might be prizes involved too.
Goodies
Ok, so I went a bit big on the player's pack this year. Like full-color Dyemax discs, custom DiscDry towels, and a solar charging powerbank for your bag type big. And don't forget, our putting contest will be dripping.
The raffle is already looking good with blacksmithing lessons from Josh Meyer and The Quench, Canyon Cooler products, and sweet sweet plastic from Dynamic Discs Phoenix.
Hotel California
And congrats to you for being such a good reader! You just found the golden ticket. Our most gracious sponsor Steve Hoshor of Great Circle Media aka 93.9FM The Mountain has given me a stack of tickets to the Hotel California a Salute to the Eagles show at the Pepsi Amphitheater for August 11. Don't miss this! The weekend before our tourney, I've got enough tickets for everyone. Sign up here >>>
https://bit.ly/3XFslOJ for your chance to get some free tickets, (seriously, I have a lot).
Oh, and we are definitely adding some spice to the game this year. Island holes, unnecessary mandos, oddly dressed middle aged men, and Grand Canyon Brewery trying their best to "enhance" your game throughout the round.
Good luck to those of you playing World's next week! Reach out to your local player and offer a hand if you're not playing, let's represent Flagstaff right in all the ways.
See you out there!
PS. Basket courses are closed to the public for Worlds, but there are a few object courses out there to enjoy. My favorite is Lake Mary. Ask a local!
