Thank you for signing up for the third annual Hercules Memorial. With 85 players signed up, we will be donating more than $1100 to Wesselman Woods!! They have graciously given us 30 free guest passes to the forest and nature playscape. Come by the shelter in the morning if you're interested.
This is my first time as TD and I’m learning as I go, so I thank you for your encouragement and patience. ((If anyone makes me cry, please note that is the cue that they have volunteered to TD the next one. :) If there is an issue, let me know. ))
There will not be a player meeting or check-in but please be sure to pick up your shirt at the shelter (if you’re an amateur player or a pro who ordered one). If you have questions, come by the shelter to chat but it is not required. Otherwise, I’ve over-explained everything below.
My hope is that everyone has fun and stays safe. Drink plenty of water and throw provisional shots as needed.
I am hitting publish on hole assignments now and I don’t anticipate needing to make any changes but just in case, please double check your hole assignment at 9am.
DRINKS AND BATHROOMS
Coolers with water will be at hole 1, 6/7, and at the shelter (we’ll probably slide it out the back door toward hole 15 during rounds).
There is a porta potty next to hole 1. There are toilets and running water at the shelter house which is accessible from holes 15, 6/7.
PLAY
If there is ever a question, throw a provisional shot as the issue comes up. Text me about it (my text info will be on the help page in the app). Take a photo if it’s helpful. We’ll get it figured out.
The main safety issue I’m concerned with is hole 16. There is a cliff and a somewhat scary looking fallen tree over the ditch. Please be careful in this area.
If your disc lands near the ditch and you feel unsafe, take up to a meter relief away from the cliff to get good footing. Take this relief backwards on the line of play from the spot you and your card mates determined to be unsafe. If your disc lands on the steep side of the ditch and you don’t feel comfortable standing exactly at your lie, you may bring your disc to the bottom of the ditch and play from the flat ground there. These adjustments are not to give an advantage, they are for safety. Please check with your card mates if you need to adjust the placement of your lie before you throw so they can confirm everything is fair.
You may take relief from thorns if needed (the nearest spot back in the line of play). Again, check with your card mates so they can verify your lie.
There are several bridges (hole 16, hole 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, maybe others). If your foot can be directly on your lie, you have a playable lie and are expected to throw as normal. For example, on hole 16, you can stand under the bridge and throw from there; this is not the bridge where you’ll need this. On some of the bridges that are barely above the ground, that’s where this could come into play. If your disc is completely under the bridge and you have no way to get your foot behind it, you may throw directly behind your lie/the bridge straight back on the line of play.
PLAYOFFS
If you tie for first place at the conclusion of the second round, you will have a sudden death playoff to determine first place. The playoff layout is programmed in and is a loop of holes 15, 16, 17, and 18 in perpetuity until a winner is determined. Myself, Kevin, or another tournament official can be witnesses if there are just two of you.
If there is a tie for second place in a division that has a second place trophy (MPO, MA2, MA3), you can also do an informal playoff to determine who gets the trophy. It will not affect final placement, just who gets the cute turtle trophy.
CTP / ACE
There is a 50/50 CTP that you had to buy in on for hole 6. Check your registration email to verify you paid in for this. I can also help look it up in the morning.
If there is an ace, please let me know. If not, we’ll have an ace pool throw off probably at a hole near the shelter house after everyone is done playing.
TROPHIES
There will be trophies for the divisions as listed on discgolfscene. Please stick around to get the trophy if you’ve earned one (and just to congratulate the folks who did get one). I will also have pins for folks who won their card either round.

If you’re not from here or haven’t played here, we are playing the Mesker Woods course (
https://maps.app.goo.gl/nUn3yUSfj2q8rsmWA) — this is the course at the top of the hill and there is a large parking lot on the same road as the zoo that is likely the best place for you to park. You can find the layout on UDisc but most people playing have played here before and will be happy to help you find your starting hole. The shelter house we'll be at is just down the hill from this big parking lot.
There are several restaurants down the road from the park where you can get lunch during the hour break.

Thanks to Kevin who will likely save the day for me at some point tomorrow, Kyle for doing a great job cleaning up the course this week as well as going out tonight and spray painting, Brittney for being quick to get stuff paid for (and future gratitude for sending payouts), and the rest of the AEDGC board. Also thanks to Matt for his opinions as I've tried to figure all of this out and his ability and willingness to carry heavy things for me.
