About this tournament

Hello everyone,

I would like to first thank you all for attending this year's A-Tier event at Iron Hill. Our community is very excited to be able to showcase the course again and to see who will come out on top. Before I get into the details, I would like to thank our main sponsors Birdie Disc Golf Supply, Gatekeeper Media, Discmania, Disc Organized for our trophies and New Castle County Parks & Rec for all the support to put this event on.

Directions to the course...
Iron Hill County Park
1337 S Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702

If traveling South on I-95 north of Wilmington I would suggest taking 495-S to avoid traffic and construction. There has been construction for the past few months and has been horrific.

Practice areas nearby:
• Lums Pond State Park, 1068 Howell School Rd, Bear, DE 19701 – has fees, but has fields and putting area along with disc golf, 5.8 miles from Iron Hill.
• White Clay Creek State Park Nature Center, Creek Road, Newark, DE – has fees, but has fields and putting area along with disc golf, 10.2 miles from Iron Hill
• Glasgow Park Trail- has open fields, no fees, no baskets, 5.0 miles from Iron Hill
• Iron Hill Park Pavilion – The pavilion has been reserved for this event as an area of refuge in case of hazardous weather/lightning and an area where players may relax. There will be a basket there and a practice net.

Tee Times:
All tee times will be posted on the PDGA event page Thursday (6/16) morning for Friday and every evening for the proceeding day of competition.
Please look there to know what time you need to show up each day.

Mandatory Check-In:
If you could check in at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time we would appreciate it. This will ensure that we know you are onsite, and we can make any necessary adjustments prior for any no shows. Delaware's legendary Bill Yerd will be at hole 1 each day to ensure you are checked in and to send groups out on the course. For those that do not know Bill he is one of our three founding members of the Delaware Disc Golf club, experienced tournament director and a tournament official.

Scoring:
Scoring will be handled through the PDGA live scoring app. As many of you know two competitors must keep score to ensure accuracy. Our preference is one person be logged into the app and two people can login to the app at the same time. Paper scorecards will be available upon request.

General Tournament Information/Course Details:

All course information is attached as a PDF to this email so that you may save it to your phone if needed. There are also jpeg images loaded under the pictures tab on the discgolfscene tournament page that may also be saved to your phone for reference. All information is also loaded into the PDGA live scoring app which includes assigned teeing areas, OB rules per hole, pars, and distances. There will be no paper caddy guide distributed to players to eliminate unnecessary waste.

All standing water on the course or within creeks is casual and players can opt for casual relief by marking your lie at the first available spot directly in the line of play.

Cards will be a mix of three and four players per tee time. We will not be mixing divisions.

We have spotters on several of the holes with blind shots, dog legs and out of bounds.

Drinking water will be on the course at several holes but it is advised that you prepare by bringing refreshments and snacks with you.

There will be food for purchase at the course provided by Bucky’s BBQ Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Lost discs – if you cannot locate your disc EVERYONE in the group MUST assist and a clock/timer MUST be used. After the 3-minutes the disc is considered lost, and that player will receive 1 penalty stroke and must return to their previous lie. If you find the disc after 3 minutes, it is still considered lost.

No two-meter rule in effect this weekend.

Weather or Lightening Delays:
In the event of any potentially hazardous weather or lightning please listen for multiple blasts from an air horn. Mark your approximate lie and move off the course. The pavilion has been reserved for the event as an area of refuge and as an area for players to hang out and relax.

I will be at the course Wednesday afternoon and all-day Thursday. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime if there are questions or any concerns you may have. I wish each one of you all the best of luck this weekend!!!
