PLAYER'S MEETING:
Thank you first and foremost for supporting the second rendition of The Baker's Dozen!!
Events like this are one of my passions in the sport that allows for design creativity and allows everyone to break away from the monotonous layouts they may be accustomed to. I will be branching out to some other courses in the near future, so keep in the lookout for those future flex starts.
I would like to shout out GREAT LAKES DISCS for their current and future support. While this event does not have merchandise payouts, I plan to do online payouts through GLD in the future! I like the idea of a flex start with lower buy-in personally, but the people will decide what the buy-in & payout structure looks like for events going forward. Let me know your thoughts!
I would also like to shout out THE PEOPLE FOR PALMER PARK for their cooperativeness in my editing of the typical layout.
PLEASE BRING YOUR FRIENDS!!!! The great thing about flex starts is the casual atmosphere of playing when you want and with whom you want. Note that there is a PDGA fee of $15 for a temporary membership if players are not already current PDGA members.
Finally, I will be selling some of my personal discs and other items at the registration tent. Feel free to browse before or after the event.
Note that all on-site transactions need to be CASHLESS per park rules.
-----------------------------------Event Notes ------------------------------------------
Please note that the course is NOT shutdown for this event. Be courteous to casual players and throw only when they are clear of the landing zone (especially on combined holes).
If you are on a card with 2 or less players, you will need to find a 3rd player to begin play. You may elect to join another group later in the day, given that group has less than 5 people.
As mentioned above, there are no payouts for amateurs for this event and I want to be as transparent as possible about where your money is going, so here is the breakdown:
- Pros $20 buy-in goes to payouts
- Ams $10
- $5 to People for Palmer Park
- $3 per player PDGA fee
- $2 sanctioning fee
PDGA Live Scoring Access Code: BAKER2
- I will have paper scorecards available if you cannot access live scoring
---------------------------------- Course notes -------------------------------------
LAST MINUTE CHANGE - One of the baskets I had scheduled to bring fell through, so we will play Hole 13 (course hole 18) to the normal basket as a par 4 instead of the scheduled par 5.
- PINK FLAGS REPRESENT OB. If your disc lands OB, play your next shot from where the disc was last in bounds with a one stroke penalty.
- YELLOW FLAGS REPRESENT HAZARD. If your disc lands in a hazard area, play your next shot from where the disc landed with a one stroke penalty.
- Any STANDING WATER in the fairway can be played as casual relief, meaning you can take the disc back on the line of play to the first playable lie.
- TWO YELLOW FLAGS on the tee indicate the teeing area is wider than the cement tee pad.
Hole 1: COMBINED COURSE HOLE 1 & 2 - OB long of initial fairway and left of approach, marked by pink flags. Long grass short and right is NOT OB.
Hole 2: COURSE HOLE 3 - No OB.
Hole 3: COMBINED COURSE HOLE 4 & 5 - OB left of fairway marked by pink flags.
Hole 4: OLD COURSE HOLE 8 (DO NOT PLAY COURSE HOLE 6). OB dog park left. On/outside sidewalk OB, teeing from out of bounds. If disc does not cross in bounds, retee with a one stroke penalty.
Hole 5: COURSE HOLE 7 - HAZARD island. If disc lands outside flags, play from where the disc lies with a one stroke penalty.
Hole 6: COURSE HOLE 8 - OB on/over sidewalk long.
Hole 7: COURSE HOLE 9 - OB left marked by pink flags. OB area short of basket.
Hole 8: COURSE HOLE 12 - No OB.
Hole 9: COURSE HOLE 13 - No OB.
Hole 10: COMBINED COURSE HOLE 14 & 15 - Mando left of marked corner tree. If Mando is missed, proceed to drop zone (course hole 15 long pad) with a one stroke penalty. HAZARD raised green marked by yellow flags. If disc lands inside hazard area, play where the disc lies with a one stroke penalty.
Hole 11: COURSE HOLE 16 - No OB.
Hole 12: COURSE HOLE 17 - OB long grass all around hole marked by pink flags.
Hole 13: COURSE HOLE 18 (AS A PAR 4) - Mando left off the tee (LONGS ONLY) marked by sign. If Mando is missed, proceed to short pad with a one stroke penalty. Hole 14: TEMP HOLE - OB on/over sidewalk right/long.
Hole 15: JR COURSE TEE 2 --> BASKET 3 - NO OB.
Hole 16: JR COURSE TEE 4 --> BASKET 5 (SHORTS) / BASKET 7 (LONGS) - OB basketball court right. OB sidewalk way long.
Hole 17: JR COURSE HOLE 8 - OB on/over sidewalk left. HAZARD island. If disc lands outside flags, play from where the disc lies with a one stroke penalty.

Your feedback is always SUPER important to help me improve and let me know what I'm doing right or wrong. I don't expect everything to go perfectly, so please find me during or after the event if you have any feedback about the course layout or the event structure.
Thanks again and see you tomorrow!
