Double posting here but this will go out to players specifically along with other info.

If you haven't attended before here's the deal. Schedule is on the main DGS page, format is one round per day, 27 holes (The big 18 + the short 9).

You have the opportunity to pick your cart partner (who you ride with), you will ride with that person all 3 rounds, there is no shuffle based on scoring. I will attempt to handle group requests, but no promises.

Don't put requests here, I won't see them, stay tuned for me info.

Is there any option to play the course sometime this week if you aren’t in the tournament?

another thing on practice rounds, if the weather is nice tupelo will be open for normal business on Thursday, that means they will be selling tee times to ball golfers throughout the day, so plan accordingly.

Cameron Ard   December 6, 2022 at 1:04pm

So just called to book one and they said they aren’t the ones to book tee times

Blake Biggers   December 6, 2022 at 3:08pm

That's strange @cameron, I called yesterday and they booked me a tee time very quickly. I used 843-215-7888 if that helps

Richard Snapp    December 2, 2022 at 6:38pm

Imagine that no waiting list. You know if they didn't cry about it being full and just got on the waiting list all the bickering and whining could have been avoided. Food for thought ...

We should invit.....no, no we shouldn't.

Jonathan Glass   December 10, 2022 at 1:13pm

There wasn’t a wait list because a lot of players didn’t play this year due to not getting pdga points for the event

Kirk Yoo   December 15, 2022 at 12:24am

The event was 91% full. Payout was higher this year than last with less Pros. Am players packs were larger this year than in past years as well. I would counter that there wasn't a wait list because I didn't market that there were spots available.

Jay Korybski    November 3, 2022 at 12:34pm

Not sure if this is the issue Nick had, but for anyone else that is having issues....

For those people that can't figure how to pay your registration fees on the site, it may have something to do with your profile. If you 'link' your DGS profile to your PDGA profile using your PDGA number, you should then get 'edit' permissions on your registration and be able to pay.

Under 'Registered Players', my name was not hyperlinked even though I had a DGS account. ... more

Thank you Jay!!!

Nick Smith    November 2, 2022 at 11:35pm

Hey Kirk sent you an email about how to pay so I ended up just registering for the waitlist because I didn’t see any other option hope that’s ok shoot me an email back with any information I may need

Check your email.

Brad Smith    November 2, 2022 at 7:58pm

Damn if I knew this was unsanctioned I would’ve made a return. Miss this event. Guess no more adult beverages just on Patio. I remember when you had to lure us a kegs to come

Get on the wait list. We average 25 to 30 people in off from the wait list each year. Right now we have 9 on the wait list. It would be great to see you.

Ernest Raymond    October 27, 2022 at 1:08am

I got In and played last year how do I get in to the event this year heck even on the waitlist Soni can get my hopes up?

Dang, this blows! Me and my buddy made this tournament a tradition every year. Maybe, things will change here soon so half of the field or more doesn’t drop. This has always been a great ran tournament by Kirk, and hopefully everything gets resolved????

There is NO REASON this cannot continue to be a PDGA Sanctioned tournament. Worlds is an invitation tournament.... USDGC is and invitation tournament. It simply needs to be made VERY CLEAR in the posting that Registration is LIMITED to "fill in your criteria here" and all is good. That is ... more

Kirk Yoo   October 25, 2022 at 12:40am

It has been clearly stated in the title for years. Also, that was not a choice presented by the PDGA.

Walter Winnington   December 3, 2022 at 2:36pm

For someone like me that has been coming to Tupelo for many years; I am disappointed in the douchebag causing the stink to force this tournament to be unsanctioned. I hope that person reads this as it is directed at that individual!!!!!! asshat. Clearly someone bitter to ruin traditions for many people like myself. Thanks

Mike Johnson    October 23, 2022 at 12:47pm

Scott, as I continue to see the conversation evolve, I can only come to one conclusion. You used your “position” within the PDGA to attempt change for your personal gain. To that end the only thing you actually accomplished was the one thing you didn’t desire, to be left out. Time to take the disqualification Scott, and move on.

I simply want TDs to follow the rules. I have nothing personally invested here other than yes... I'd like a FAIR chance to play. We updated the Competition Manual in 2022 just for this reason. Another player who has NOT "supported the tournament in the past" was allowed to register r ... more

Bobby Henn   October 25, 2022 at 2:09am

And yet the PDGA just changed a rule requiring 30 day prior notice for sanctioning agreements because they weren't following their own rules. Interesting...

Kirk Yoo   October 26, 2022 at 1:24am

Scott, I believe I have been fairly polite so far in our exchanges. That is about to change. You don't know what you are talking about, and you never have, so you need to proceed by shutting the **** up. If you have a problem with me or how I handle anything going forward I would invite you to ... more

Chad Sullivan    October 21, 2022 at 1:56am

What a bummer, 100 disc golfers don’t get to end the year with an Official PDGA event because the registration method isn’t the typical “internet speed test” shenanigans? Damn shame…

Apparently, if you're a top pro and go on Facebook as ask to be included, you do NOT have have played in this tournament in the past 3 years... you just get special access and automatically added into the field. No fast internet required.

Kirk Yoo   October 22, 2022 at 12:30am

Not exactly Scott. When he asked there were spots available because everyone from last year had not responded to their invitation. Not that I have to explain anything to you. Technically we hadn't gotten to the wait list when he requested to play the event.

Kirk Yoo   October 22, 2022 at 12:51am

Chad, it is a shame to ruin 17 years of tradition.

Bobby Henn    October 20, 2022 at 10:31pm

It says Invitational right in the event name...

It really doesn't matter. The event is no longer sanctioned. In my best Elvis impersonation voice "Thank you, thank you very much".

Bobby Henn   October 23, 2022 at 11:04pm

Just because other "Invitational" tournaments aren't actually invitational, that's your argument? If the PDGA supports this style of event, then a simple email to the TD asking, "hey can you change the wording?" would have been enough. Trying to reprimand the TD in the event's comment section because you feel left out is not the way to handle this situation.

Kirk Yoo   October 24, 2022 at 12:39am

A lack of patience and the inability to ask me questions privately have cost him his ability to participate in an event that he has wished to play for what appears quite some time. Unfortunately, his impatience has also cost the players their ability to get some last minute points in and broken a 17 year tradition.

Mike Johnson    October 18, 2022 at 12:55am

Scott, it looks like your desire to play Tupelo will likely remain just that, a desire.

You got your wish, it is now unsanctioned. As for your ability to get into the the tournament at this point, good luck with that.

Kirk Yoo   October 19, 2022 at 12:28am

Scott, it is not limited to previous players. Previous players have the opportunity to sign up first. Every year at least a third of the players have never played the event. Last year it was about half.

Kirk Yoo   October 19, 2022 at 12:46am

I will make this as simple as I can. It is my tournament and I do this for the players. If the players don't like something that I do they will tell me and I will fix it.

Kirk Yoo    October 17, 2022 at 4:13pm

Due to the Invitational aspect of this event it is no longer a PDGA sanctioned B-tier.

Scott Elam    October 14, 2022 at 4:35pm

I know you're allowed to reserve a PERCENTAGE of spots for past champions, sponsor exemptions, etc. but not the ENTIRE tournament.

I'm on the PDGA Competition Committee and we expressly and clearly stated this in the 2022 guidelines. We even allow the tournament to be called "XYZ Club Members Tournament", but this seems to be a standard B-Tier.

Am I missing something? We

I'm very familiar with your background Kirk and appreciate all you've done and continue to do for our sport. I was just trying to correlate the inviational aspect with the guidelines that I know exist. Lots of folks have " done things for years" but that doesn't mean they ar ... more

Scott Elam   October 17, 2022 at 10:29pm

Lastly, the PDGA does have provisions for Invitation Only events... It just needs to be noted as such which it doesn't appear to be now.

Kirk Yoo   October 17, 2022 at 11:10pm

As I said, it has always been an invitational and it always will be. The only difference is that after 17 years as a B-tier it will now no longer be a PDGA sanctioned event.
