Q: TORONTO OPEN is a qualifier for the Discmania Open (Disc Golf Pro Tour Silver Series in PEI) and Toronto Island Maple Leaf (PDGA A-Tier). How does this work?

A: The top finishers for the division will have their names entered into a random draw.

The Gold and Blue division winners will be entered into a random draw to win entry for TIML (Pro Divisions).

The White, Red, Green and Purple division winners will be entered into a random draw to win entry for TIML and Discmania Open (Amateur Divisions).

After the first name is pulled, it will not be put back into the draw. This will ensure one person doesn’t win both draws. If you win your division, your odds are 1 in 2. May they be ever in your favour.

Whether that be through helping navigate, giving out hand warmers or apples, dropping off players packs & chainlinkdiscgolf.com online purchases, acting as players Match Makers, etc. Here’s a general overview of where we’ll be, and when: March 12th Toronto Sunday Club at Dentonia Park DGC 9 AM onward, March 13th at Jack’s East End Putting League from 5.30 PM, March 15th at Marilyn Bell Park DGC glow, March 16th at Beaches DGC glow, March 18th at Toronto Tag Tour at Dentonia Park DGC, March 19th at Toronto Sunday Club at Scarlett Woods DGC.

Q: What if there’s a tie for first place?
A: TORONTO OPEN SKYLINE metal trophies will be given to the top 3 players in each division, and TORONTO OPEN SKYLINE candy tags will be given to the top 10 players in each divisions. Only the top player in each division will have their names entered into the TIML (Toronto Island Maple Leaf) and Discmania Open qualifier draw. For the draw, first place ties will be determined by: fewest bogies, most birdies, most aces (in that order).

A: Jack Coney has a wonderful Monday night putting league located in the East End of the city, which we’re very happy to promote! The fee is $10 to play, and is not included in the TORONTO OPEN registration. If you’re interested please let us know via the DiscGolfScene sign up sheet or via personal message to Jeff, Cara or Jack Coney. If there’s enough interest we will investigate running it over 2 nights or finding a bigger venue. You can also check out the EEPL Facebook group for more information. Be there by 6.30 PM.

A: From a systematic perspective, consider that we purposely designed Scarlett Woods so that par would be a 1,000 rated round. For each ‘stroke’ over par, you should subtract 10 points from a 1,000 rated round. Therefore if you were 19 over you would subtract 190 points from 1,000, this would give you a 810 rated round.

Q: Is it possible to have a card with different divisions on it or should I be playing with other competitors in the same division?
A: We’d actually recommend that you play with people in different divisions, especially with people in higher divisions. This allows for learning from our peers, while allowing people an easier time finding a card. We’ll be adding a PDGA rulebook to every players pack, along with a lot of other goodies!

A friendly reminder that registration for this year's TORONTO OPEN goes live tomorrow - that's Friday, February 3 at 8:00 pm!

Here's what you can expect as part of the registration:

Registration Divisions:
• RPA Gold rating 970+
• RAH Blue rating <970
• RAD White rating <935
• RAE Red rating <900
• RAF Green rating <850
• RAG Purple rating <800

Additional Items (these are all optional):
• Ace Pot
• Random Draw Raffle Tickets
• Donation to the Paul McBeth Foundation

Player's Pack Pick-up:
You will also be asked where you anticipate picking up your player's pack. If you're not sure, simply select an option that seems most likely.

There are lots of spots available, so please don't feel like you need to rush through the registration. We've opened the event up to a larger field of 240 players this year to make sure everyone gets a chance to play. If you're signing up when registration opens, we'll make sure you get a spot.
