Here is what we have worked out so far:
This is the 1st of the Metro Detroit Series events so it will be a Pro C / AM B Tier event.
We are not making this into a 24 hole layout - 18 holes - field capped at 80 players.
We will try to get the course in as soon as possible however, I am not taking 3 or 4 vacation days to install then take down each day so people can play the course early. If people want the course to go in daily just in case a random group of people show up then we will have to strategize a plan on a group who is willing to help out install then take down the course each day. Initially, I will talk to the owner at Sunnybrook and see what he can do with his team.
We agreed on an all-day price for carts which the PDGA agrees with so everyone will be riding.
The layout of the course will be very similar if not the same as the Turkey Open however, we will be adding in alternate tees for the lower divisions on specific holes so they will not be throwing 1000 foot holes like the AM1 and Open divisions.
I am working to get more info and as soon as I get it I will post here.
A flyer will be posted soon.
Just to reiterate - the field will be capped at 80 players - cashless pre-reg may not guarantee you a spot...

John, just an idea but maybe you can talk to the people at Sunnybrook and see if some sort of "pay-to-play" is possible. That way they would be responsible to set it up and take it down daily. I can't ... show more ›

I can't speak for anyone else but I would be willing to pay like $5 or something like that (more if a cart was included) to play the course for a day. I have no idea if it would be worth while for them but like I said, its just an idea.

first, thanks to John, Dan, and the rest of the Chain Gang. Second, a huge thanks goes out to Sunnybrook for letting us use the course and carts to enjoy a great day of golf yesterday. I'm grateful and thankful to have been able to play, and play well enough to win. And lastly, a special thought goes out to Sean Powel, who tried his best in the playoff after getting rough news about his grandmother. Hope she gets well soon. Cant' wait for cha-ching, and the Turkey Open is gonna rock

I never said that I wasnt going to go if it was raining. I finished out the Fire Fighters Classic last year, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I just wanted to make sure that just in case it did get canceled we could reschedule because I'm really looking forward to this tourney. However, I'm sure it's a waste of time typing this anyways because the weather will be fine. (fingers crossed)

OK guys, I am very sorry for the delay in my response. Mother Nature has not been kind to the U.S. this past week. Many deaths in the South are a reminder of how lucky we are but Mother Nature still showered on our parade a little. On the left side of this pic is where basket 9 and tee box 10 would be. The bridge that spans from right to left is under water and un-useable.

The course is pretty wet and although the management at Sunnybrook remain positive the course will drain, we will have to hope for some dry days Friday and Saturday to get the course playable and still use carts. We already know we are altering Holes 7 and 8. Hole 8 is the short hole in the woods. It will be significantly altered - there is no way to get carts in there now and for many weeks to come.

I plan on being at Sunnybrook around 1 pm tomorrow to set up the course. For those who have volunteered to help, thank you, hopefully 1 pm works for you. We need to take the course down before dark so I am guessing people can tee off between 2 and 6 pm. The cost is $5 per person to walk or $20 for 2 to ride. To play, you must go into the Pro Shop and pay Al at the counter and he will direct you on when you can tee off. There are ball golfers also using the course which we will fit right in with. I am not sure carts will be allowed on the course tomorrow but the ball golfers are in the same boat, no pun intended, as we are. I am planning on setting the course up again on Saturday very early and it should remain open all day.
