Say something ...Happy SpAce Race Eve, everybody!
Some notes for tomorrow's first round of the 2016 season --
I'm bringing 1s and 5s for change, but if everybody pays the 15$ entry fee with a 20$ I won't even have enough 5s for entry fee change, let alone payouts! Please, if at all possible, have 15$ exactly so that we don't run out of 5s. Thank you!
Our amazing run of good SpAce Race weather will probably be coming to an end tomorrow, which is pretty much what I expected with this being the first one I'm actually going to play in, lol. Be ready for rain. I still do have some towels for sale, and I have 3 very nice Prodigy umbrellas available to buy for 35$ each.
I went up to Horning's yesterday and played a couple of hours in the rain on the course. The wind was pretty light and the chains were pretty hungry for plastic, I'm happy to report!
Tomorrow might be windy as well AND IF CONDITIONS ARE BOTH RAINY AND VERY WINDY I'M NOT OPPOSED TO CANCELLING/POSTPONING THE ROUND BECAUSE NOBODY SAYS WE HAVE TO PLAY IN AWFUL WEATHER IF WE DON'T WANT TO. That being said, I know many of you are Jonesing so bad for SpAce Race that it will take a near tsunami to dampen your enthusiasm, lol. It's going to take a really strong wind for most to consider the round a bad idea, so I guess all we can do is show up and see how it goes. I would hold off on paying the Horning's day fee until you know for sure that we will be playing.
If anyone has any opinions on playing or not in extreme wind/rain I wouldn't mind hearing them. It will be up to all of you players tomorrow if you want to play the round. If you are there, we can vote if we need to.
Assuming we launch tomorrow, here is the status of the tee pads:
The Women's tees will be the same.
Holes 1-3 no change.
Hole 4 -- front left side of tee area has some room for an approach if needed.
Hole 5 -- will actually move the regular/Women's tee a little bit closer just into the grass for better traction.
Hole 6 -- no change. If you throw from deep you're probably used to throwing from the right side already.
Hole 7 -- the normal throwing area is pretty bad. I'd throw from just to the right of it.
Hole 8 -- no change.
Hole 9 -- it's kind of a nebulous zone of where the tee pad would actually end at this point. One step in front of the root in the teeing area is what I consider the front.
Hole 10 -- very muddy/puddly in the normal throwing area. Throw from further where the sign actually is.
Hole 11 -- you can throw from up if you perch just slightly onto the hill next to a puddle, or you can throw from further back near the sign.
Hole 12 -- no change.
Hole 13 -- no change.
Hole 14 -- the normal teeing area is a disaster. We will all be throwing from the closer tee this round -- bonus!
Holes 15 -- 17 no change, though you'll probably have to favor an edge of the teeing area to avoid a puddle.
Hole 18 -- not much room to work with, just a slim dry area between the tee sign and a large puddle up top.
Good luck, SpAce Cadets -- fingers crossed that the stars align and that conditions are playable tomorrow!
