A random person who checks in somewhere in the first 20 will win a 2016 European Open PDX from Discmania. Also bring lots of extra cash as myself, Gill, and others will be auctioning off collectors items to raise funds for the local courses. Jun 10, 2016

Still looking for some added prizes for the event. If you feel like you or your company would like to supply a disc golf related item or a gift card, please let me know. Jun 2, 2016

The layout for the event will.be.called the Tournament layout..it will be a.par 55 with hole 12 being a par 4.. I will use this layout for tournaments for now on..for those who seek course records on here, there will be a new one set at this event May 12, 2016
Tim Kopacz May 12, 201612 is a par 3 in either layout - check the signs. The only holes that change par with pin positions are 9 and 13 when pins are long become par 4

We can move all pins LONG if you'd like for the event. It makes the blue layout a par 56. But what it does most is make quite a few of the red tees harder for the recreational players, more of a white layout than red.

based on my opinion and the opinion of others, hole 12 in the current position should be a legit par 4...its extremely tough to get a 3 and even tougher to get a 2. i like the layout how it is currently..but we will play it no matter where the pins are..so all longs may not be horrible.

I understand the sentiment and opinions. Dont forget though that lower probability of getting a 2 does not equal par 4. Those two things do not correlate. If the upshot was more protected, or if the landing area for an upshot was much further away than 300' (like 375' landing zone) then it might be a 4, but probably not for a blue level player (it is a blue tee BTW). My opinion is that 4 is a gimme all day long even with a botched throw, especially for a blue level player. The truth of the matter is that we dont really know until we host an event and study the scoring spread of pdga rated players. I think most players in the area are rated below 925, or only slightly above. In that case, i agree 12 long pin is a tough 3 - probably average score of 3.5-3.6 for most 850-950 rated players. We'll see how the event stats play out. Get me a copy of the scorecards and i can do some analysis. Let me know if you'd like to see any particular pins move.

Whole 'nutha issue but - par is irrelevant. In an event you are playing against the course and the field of players. Given players and ratings, each round will satutate at a maximum round rating and help to establish a course SSA (scratch scoring average - what a 1000 rated player would have throw that round). We'll see what SSA calculates out to based on the layout during the event. If the field is full of sub 950 rated players,

The SSA for the round will limit the round rating for the hot score to the point that regardless if the hot round is 50 or 59, that player will receive the highest round rating available to the field.

On 4 we plan to fall that big white pine blocking the left edge fairway off the blue tee. Should make the hole less of a mind-fuch. The issue i have with moving that pin is its one of a few of the purer RHBH right to left finishing holes that keeps SC in balance
Jamie Vincent May 13, 2016The course will be loved and appreciated no matter what the layout. I plan on filling in a few of the really bad teepads before the tournament. there are 4 or so that need it really bad
Phil Britton May 13, 2016I could maybe lend a hand if its during the day

We are starting a fundraising project and budget request from Chocolay to get concrete done prior to the Championsip. Please dont fill in any pads as we will just have to dig it out. Keep an eye open for news and postings. Contribute if you can!
Jamie Vincent May 17, 2016pads need to be filled, there a safety issue..won't add any more removal as most of the pads will be bad 2 week's later

Its true. Many of the pad are so dug out from that "gravel" that it really is a legitamate safety issue. Its no longer a question of if somebody is going to sprain/roll/break and ankle there but WHEN. Those pads really should be top priority.
Tim Kopacz May 24, 2016I wont be the one turning down volunteer efforts to make things better - have at it and be sure to work safely. As for the long term improvements,
Tim Kopacz May 24, 2016...well that takes administrative approvals, contracts, and lots of individuals stepping up and donating money (or helping find some way to raise money)
Jamie Vincent May 24, 2016Tim, we love you an what you do..yet side note, can we put the pins in the above mentioned layout for the tournament
Jamie Vincent May 24, 2016I'd like a copy of they key if that's possible
Tim Kopacz May 25, 2016We will move them, but not hole 4!!! :-P
Josh Reinaas May 25, 2016Just an idea I've been throwing around but on the pads issue, if we approach Menards/Lowes/etc etc I'm positive that we can get a few bags of concrete mix donated from each of them.

Way to think about wrangling up a donation, but honestly all local hardware stores have been approached to be sponsors and not one has shown interest nor commitment. We'd also need 2700 80# bags of quikrete to fill all 36 pads out there!!!! CALLING FRACO, PLEASE HELP US WITH A TRUCK FULL OF CONCRETE FRACO!!!
Phil Britton May 26, 2016Of course, if you make the tee pads great again™, there go my excuses for shanked drives...
Tim Kopacz May 26, 2016Red tees are just as important to our mission to create more recreational opportunities for all ages and skills and increase public awareness and opportunities for disc golf
