About this tournament
We teach the fundamentals of disc golf to Saskatoon-area youth (ages 7 to 17). The program will run for 10 consecutive Wednesday nights starting on May 11th and ending on July 13th. We start each evening promptly at 6:30pm with a quick dynamic stretching warm-up inspired by Disc Golf Strong, then a 20 minute clinic led by one of our many talented coaches, and then a 9-hole round to reinforce the concepts learned in the clinic. At about 7:45, participants will complete a fun coaches' challenge in attempt to win entries into the end-of-year prize draw! All sessions will end at 8:00pm.
Program cost is $40 per child. Participants receive a SWEET players' pack (minimum $60 value) with items varying year-to-year, so you won't find any spoilers here! Plus, all Juniors participants receive Saskatoon Disc Golf (SDG) Membership, which includes reduced entry fees for tournaments, leagues, public clinics, and other events we host in town. The SDG membership also gets you 10% off at Escape Sports!
This year we have 36 spots available. This is because during our 9-hole round we will have 4 juniors (plus one coach or parent/guardian volunteer) on each hole. Unfortunately we simply can not accommodate more than 36 kids for this reason. Supervising parents/guardians or parent/guardian volunteers (see below) are NOT counted towards this 36 participant limit. Once all 36 spots fill up, a waitlist will automatically be generated in Disc Golf Scene, however we can not guarantee that anyone on the waitlist will make it into the program, so please set an alarm to register as soon as possible when registration opens (March 21st at 7:00pm on Disc Golf Scene - be sure to search "Saskatoon Junior Program 2022" in the search bar to find the right page).
Lessons will only be cancelled for holidays and extreme weather, including thunderstorms. If it's pouring rain or even snowing, we are STILL ON, provided there is no lightning. If a week of lessons is cancelled, we will announce this before 5:00pm at the latest via email and via our Facebook page (please follow this page if you haven't already! https://www.facebook.com/SaskJuniorDG). We will also add another date to the program (July 20th) if weather cancels a lesson. However, if two or more weeks are cancelled, we will not be adding any more weeks to the program beyond July 20th.
If your child requires extra parent or guardian supervision for any reason, please contact Head Coach Alex Pelletier at [email redacted]. This will be no problem! I just need to know in advance.
