It was an epic battle. Right when we thought we knew how it was going to end, the home team with the lead fumbled the punt snap and, oh wait, this isn't where I write that ending. lol. Good game both to Michigan and Michigan St.
But before that, we had 9 teams battle it out on a beautiful day at River Bends Park. The Shelby TV team was there early in the morning and did follow-up story on the course's final stages of this latest redesign. They initially did a story last year when we were very close to the major changes being started and saw us give the Shelby Twp. Park and Rec a check for $500 from the 2014 River Bends Fundraiser.
This year, the teams battled on the now completed course, sans the practice basket and a few more tee signs. There were plenty of prizes to go around.
Ron Simpson won the 50/50 for $23
Ron Simpson and Nate Brown won a skin on hole 2 for $30
Dalton Puckhaber and Ilya Newell won a skin on hole 26 for $30
Ryan Herzog and Don Warfield won skins on holes 1, 4, 17, and 21 for $120
Ryan Herzog won the Ace Pool throw-off for another $32
Jeff Hildinger donated a lot of items including plenty of discs and a Ranger Bag
Wolf (Brian) Pack (Frawley) Discs donated a cool WPD hoodie and discs.
Ryan Herzog donated a couple of discs
Your Motor City Chain Gang donated a bunch of Cryztal discs and a Mickey Redmond.
I believe Louis Caponi won the Mickey Redmond disc
Andre Emmond won the Ranger package
Nick Fortin won the Import package
(Please contact me with your name) won the WPD package (lol, it all went so fast)
Perry Fortin strolled on in with a $100 donation from Progressive Lifestyles
The Raffle, 50/50 CTP, and event brought us to $500
We will hold a raffle during the winter months at putting and that should put us over the $600 target
Also, James Szwec and his father Ray (who I work with at GM) was on hand today. james built the kiosk near hole 1 which was installed yesterday and all of the tee signs
Matt Stivers did the next tee signs
A big shout out to these guys for providing items for the course that make it now pretty complete
Brian Frawley and Louis took care of registration while I prepared for the event so a huge shout out to them and everyone else who got to enjoy River Bends Disc Golf Course today!
