I competed in my second PDGA event September 4th and got an unofficial event rating of 943, which would change my overall rating to 919. However, I am currently registered in MA3 because ratings haven’t updated. Could I be shifted to MA2 or will I remain in MA3 for the event?

For this event you will remain at MA3.

When we created this Ratings Challenge Series, we anticipated more demand from the MA3 and MA4 divisions but wanted to give the MA1 and MA2 divisions ample time to show their interest. Now that registration has been opened for a few days, it appears that there is little interest in this series from the MA1 and MA2 divisions so we will be adding the MA3 division to the Saturday event and the MA4 division to the Sunday event. MA3 and MA4 tiered registration will open up on Friday, August 26 at 7:00 pm.

Is there wiggle room to add in players near 900? I'm 898 and only dropped below 900 this last update because I had a couple bad rounds. I get the sentiment of following the pdga guidelines, but it can hurt players that are bouncing between the boundaries of the lower divisions and I'd rather not be relegated from the division I usually play in (because those are the teepads I usually want to play from).

If players ratings change between when they registered and when the event runs we will allow that however our intention is to keep strict to the rating divisions. We are also looking very carefully at the amount of players in each div that want to play. at the current time the signups in the MA1 and MA2 fields is very low and we will be looking at changing the events if we do not get more signups.

I just plainly disagree with the outlook, and allowing a wider rating range to register will increase the numbers to what you are looking for. I understand strictly not letting you register if your rating is too high - that is unfair. The ratings aren't meant to keep you from playing up unless there is overwhelming demand, which there is clearly not.

Thank you for your feed back. I will consider it for future events.
