"Here are the details for Saturday's North Valley Championship.
There will be a quick players meeting at 8:40 to review everything below and we will tee at 9:00.
Layout:
Everyone will be playing the Blue Layout with a couple exceptions. We will be splitting hole 5 into two holes for everyone. 5A will be the White Layout for Hole 5 (Long tee to short basket) and hole 5B will be the drop tee marked on the map to the normal Blue basket (see below). The only other layout difference is on holes 11 and 14. MPO, MA1, and MA2 will play the blue layout for these two holes, but everyone else will play the red layout.
OBs
In the parking lot. Over the ball field fence on Holes 2,3, 5A, and 5B. The Ball fields are not OB for hole 1. None of the walking paths are OB. The Pond will play as OB as well. If you go OB off the tee on 14 you can either advance to where you went OB or move up to the next tee drop zone. For the divisions playing the Blue layout for hole 14 the first Drop Zone will be the teebox before the pond that is marked Drop Zone on the map. If you go OB again from this Drop Zone you can advance to the second Drop Zone which is the teepad near the short basket on the far side of the pond. For the divisions playing the Red layout for hole 14, only the second Drop Zone will be used.
Hole assignments will be posted on the Event Page (
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/72649) Friday afternoon or evening.
We will be using PDGA Digital Scorecard as the official scorecard for this event. One player on each card will need to enter scores each round. If you are unfamiliar with this, the PDGA website has a tutorial at
https://www.pdga.com/help/tournament-management/official-hole-scoring#scorekeeping. It is simple and easy to use. Just go to pdga.com/score and type in our access code: valley
You can also download and use the new PDGA Live app to keep score and it has the rule book.
A backup scorecard should also be kept for each group per PDGA guidelines.
AFTER YOUR ROUND IS DONE EVERY PLAYER MUST CONFIRM THEIR SCORE ON THE PDGA SCORECARD PAGE. Please verify that the score is correct before confirming it on the app. If a score is incorrect and complete with the app the player will receive a 2 stroke penalty (same as the penalty for misadding your score on a paper card). If you have to play out a hole from a provisional shot or have a question about how to score a hole, come talk to me with your cardmates after the round before "completing" the scorecard. Using PDGA scoring will allow us to start the second round quicker and organise payouts faster.
Second round will start one hour from when the last card to finish is complete with their first round. The second round start time and your starting holes will be posted on the PDGA results page
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/72649 shortly after everyone has finished their first round. If you are ready to tee off one hour from when you finished, you won't be late. There will not be players meeting before the second round. Please follow the Facebook event page for updates:
https://www.facebook.com/events/948976029693785
Payouts for the Open division will be available in cash at the end of the day or via PayPal. If you choose PayPal, please contact me after you leave to provide the necessary information. If you want to get cash after the event you may cut to the front of the checkout line as I will have envelopes ready to go.
Payouts for AMs will be available onsite at the end of the day. Once everyone is finished with the second round, payouts will be posted on the disc golf scene event page
https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/North_Valley_Championship_2023. After payouts are posted you can redeem on site or at the store on a later date. Funny money earned at this event will expire 12/31/2023.
Ace Pool:
We are switching to an Optional $2 Ace Pool this season. If no one that pays into the ace pool for the event gets an ace, then the ace pool pot will be added to the end of season Gray Duck Tour Series payouts. If you are not sure if you signed up for the ace pool you should be able to check the email you received when you registered. If there are no aces in the final event of the season the ace pool will be added into the Gray Duck Tour Series payouts. The full ace pool will be paid out even if there are different layouts being played.
Gray Duck Tour Series:
This year we are trying something new. We are adding a season points series for the Amateur divisions. Here is the structure:
$1 of every AM entry goes to season payouts for the division that the player played in.
Event Points Calculation:
1st = 100 + (0.1 x players in division)
Everyone Else = 100 - ((place-1) * 30) / players in division
Total Season Points will be equal to the Top 7 events for each player in a division.
After the final event of the year the Prize pool value for each division will be equal to the total number of players that played in that division for each event combined.
The top 15% of each division's season points leaders will be paid out based on the payout calculator found here:
https://texasarmytrail.com/payout.aspx using the Payout to Lower Finishers set to +5.
This is the final event of the Gray Duck Tour Series and the season long payouts will be finalized after this event. We have added one more event if you are looking for another chance to play before the end of the year. Check our The Last Migration at Oakwood on 11/25.
