Tournament Info: PLEASE READ
Thank you all again for registering for the Downtown Smash!!
1. Player's meeting before the first round is MANDATORY. There are important things we will have to go over as throwing a tournament in a downtown city has a lot of moving parts. Please show up and attend.
2. PLEASE play smart downtown. We have been lucky to have minimal issues over the past few years thanks to the players respecting the downtown businesses and citizens. That being said, DO NOT throw thumbers or tomahawks over the buildings. There is only one hole over 200' downtown. Putters and midranges should be the only discs you need. This year, we won't limit it to that. But just play smart. Hawthorne is not a short course. It's always fun seeing the turn. Players with big arms will do well at Hawthorne. Player's with a good short game will crush downtown. The best all-around player usually take's the War Hammer home.
3. If there are any issues, call Jake or I during the tournament. 248-894-4477(Tad) 248-935-6480(Jake). Basically, give us a call if there's anything stopping play.
4. The Pontiac Little Art Theatre (PLAT) is expecting us for lunch. This is also where you will turn in your 1st round scorecards. They will have food available for purchase at lunch. Please support those who have supported this tournament! But of course, there are other options available.
5. BRING BEAT-UP DISCS FOR DOWNTOWN. It is an urban tournament. Your discs will get scratched up in this tournament. It's always confusing when people seemed to be shocked by this the day of.
6. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! If your disc goes into the Phoenix Center parking garage, It's gone. You will not get it back again. It's gone. If you go into the Phoenix Center to retrieve a disc, you will be removed from the tournament with no refund and will no longer be able to register for a future downtown event. We have been working very closely with the city to work on getting to be able to use the Phoenix Center rooftop for the future and the city was very disappointed when players trespassed last year. There will be no warning. You will just be asked to leave. The City Council President and the City Planner will be dropping by and if they see that again, the chances of us having another event is null. Please don't ruin this event for everyone and future players.
