Hello!
Thank you for signing up for the 2026 Mulligan’s Madness – A Calvert Road Ice Bowl. We have already raised more than $1100 for the College Park Community Food Bank!
Apologies for the long email. There is a lot to cover… and I am wordy. Try your best to read it all. I will cover the highlights at the players’ meeting in the morning.
SPONSORS:
Huge shout out to Justin Duncan, Mark “Sharky” Sherwood and Matt Stroud for kicking in a bunch of CTP and Raffle discs.
Zanfel has kicked in some samples and while it isn’t Poison Ivy season yet, it soon will be. Grab these for when you throw off the fairway. Speaking of which, Poison Ivy Police sponsored many items in the raffle so if you need some PI treatment/removal, be sure to reach out to them.
WEATHER:
We will have cold weather when you check-in (and you must check-in) but it will start to feel like Spring as the day goes on. It looks like we will have light winds and a temp of 40 degrees when we tee off, rising 10+ degrees over the course of the round. Whatever melts today will refreeze tonight into tomorrow morning. I would expect the course to be fairly solid to start the round and soft by the time we are done.
SCHEDULE:
SATURDAY 2/14:
8:00-9:30am: Check-In at the shelter across from Hole 10. EVERYONE MUST CHECK IN! Make sure you buy discs and raffle tickets!
945am: There will be A BRIEF player's meeting.
10am-10:15am: Tee Time following a 2 minute warning.
GROUPS:
Groups have been set and are available for viewing at
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/98904
Please double check this page in the morning as there could be some changes. Note: The letter after the hole number corresponds to the pad you should be playing.
SCORING:
ALL players (or their caddies) are required to keep score. We will be using live scoring. You can access the event through PDGA Live App or website: pdga.com/score
Live-scoring code is mulligan
If you need a primer on how PDGA Live Scoring works, please see the information at this link: PDGA Digital Scorecard
Those who are stuck in the past and insist on writing down their scores will be provided with a stone tablet and a chisel so that they can record scores. OK, not really. I will have paper scorecards for those who need them. Please ask for one when you check in.
MULLIGANS:
Mulligans are an extra shot that you can take at any time – Drive, Upshot or Putt. Players will have a maximum of 5 Mulligans that they can use during the round. Multiple Mulligans may be used on one hole but only one Mulligan may be played per lie.
The process for using one of your Mulligans is as follows:
DRIVING: If you wish to use a Mulligan following a drive, you must wait until the entire card has thrown their initial tee shots. When all four players have teed off, a Mulligan must be declared BEFORE THE GROUP LEAVES THE TEEING AREA. In other words, you cannot walk down the fairway and see that you don’t like your drive and then walk all of the way back to the Tee to use a Mulligan. Also, while I know that you might have just thrown your favorite driver 300’ away, you are NOT allowed to walk down the fairway beyond 50’ to retrieve your driver.
UPSHOTS AND PUTTING: If you wish to use a Mulligan in the fairway or on the green, you must call it out BEFORE THE NEXT PLAYER THROWS THEIR NEXT SHOT (Be kind to each other!). If you use a Mulligan on the fairway or on the green, you throw your next shot right away rather than waiting for other players who are closer to throw their shots. Like the drives, retrieving your disc to throw another shot should be kept to a minimum and within a reasonable amount of time.
YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE MULLIGAN PER LIE. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU CANNOT THROW THREE TIMES FROM THE SAME LIE.
DIFFERENT THIS YEAR: IF YOU USE A MULLIGAN, YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM THE BEST OF THE TWO SHOTS.
How do I get Mulligans?
This event is a food/money drive for the local foodbank. As such, you can bring cans of food to the event and exchange them for Mulligans. Players can receive up to 5 Mulligans for this event in exchange for at least 5 cans of food. More food is always welcome. And if you can't get cans of food? We will be selling Mulligans for $5 each with all proceeds adding to the total donation we make to the Food Bank.
CTPs and Long Putt
As stated earlier, there will be a CTP on every hole. (Please have something to write with in your bag.) Every division has at least one CTP and some have as many as 4 depending on size of the division. There will be some holes with multiple divisions’ CTPS so please make sure you only move the CTP for your division. NEW THIS YEAR: There will be a flag on hole 13. This is NOT a CTP. It is a “Longest Putt/Throw-in”. As opposed to a CTP which moves closer to the basket as the round progresses, this flag will move farther away from the basket as the length of the throw-ins increases.
When the round is over, please collect the CTP flag from your last hole and bring it to tournament central.
RAFFLE & DISCS FOR SALE
We are having another big raffle this year with all of the proceeds going towards the Food Bank. A portable basket, a desk basket, discs (a LOT of discs), hats, calendars and a bunch of other shwag. Please bring cash…. Though we can also take PayPal payments for raffle tickets. $1 for 1. $5 for 6.
We will also be selling overstocked discs from the Calvert Open and other past events. We will be making a donation (50%) from the profit on those discs, as well.

What happens if I miss one of the Mandos?
If you miss a Mando, you should probably use a Mulligan! If you no longer have any Mulligans or you choose not to use one, there will be a drop zone flagged by every Mando we are playing. Proceed to the drop zone next to the missed mando and throw with a one stroke penalty.
PARKING
The parking lots at Calvert aren’t huge and with snow still lingering, there are fewer than normal. Carpool if you can and get there early to guarantee a spot close to TC and the course.
PRE-ORDERED FUNDRAISER DISCS & HOODIES
First, thank you all for ordering discs and hoodies through DGS. Your shwag will be available to be picked up after you check in.
It is entirely possible that I have forgotten something. If I didn't cover something that you are needing to know – and especially if you think others should know it - please do not hesitate to contact me by replying to this email or sending me a text at 971-645-6371. If anything comes up that bears repeating, I will mention these items at the Player’s Meeting.
This email has also been posted here: Mulligan's Madness - A Calvert Road Ice Bowl for public questions and comments.
Thanks and see you tomorrow!
