HOLES 6 - 16 HAVE PAINTED OB LINES

My original plan was to paint OB on Thursday, but it literally rain all day. My next plan was to paint Friday morning, but there was snow on the ground and would have been pointless. Last opportunity I had was Friday night after 6:45 pm.

Some of the OB lines are for safety, some are to help define what is or isn’t OB. I painted the lines based on the footing and how likely would the line wash away if it rained. Also, the OB lines for 14, 15, and 16 were done in the dark.

Hole 7 - there is a brush pile within 15’ of the basket. I didn’t realize it was there in the limited amount of daylight I had couldn’t deal with it. I painted an OB line around it because if you landed in the pile it would be very difficult to get a proper lie and footing. I don’t like OB that close to the basket but thought this was the best solution with the time I had available.

Hole 8; first pond hole. The pond is really down due to the dry winter we had, but as you get close to the water the pond bottom is very soft & mucky. Therefore, I painted an OB line quite a distance from the water to what I thought was better footing and preserved the historical intention of the fairway.

Hole 9; second pond hole. Same as 8. There are 3 ways to play this hole. Completely dry left route, a short water carry up the middle, and a very long water carry to the right. There are painted OB lines for the middle and right with flags to help see where the line is. Once you get passed the pond, the creek is casual.

Holes 10 - 14 The road is painted OB. Some of the paint is on grass, some is on the road.

Hole 15 Road and bus parking lot long are painted OB

Hole 16 Mando is marked and private property is painted OB

Hole 17 & 18. Change from previous years. OB line will be the creek. I did not paint an OB line because it was dark.

DIVISIONS / DATES:


Everyone is playing two rounds on Saturday, March 18th on a shotgun start. Round one hole assignments will be posted sometime Friday afternoon at the pdga event page. HOWEVER - Please recheck your hole assignments after you check in to make sure they did not change.

LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW


Per the Refund notice posted at time of registration, it is too late to request a refund. However, if you notify Rob before 8am Saturday (so we can make the proper adjustments), amateurs will still be able to receive a player pack. No call or no show after 8am will forfeit your player pack.






PARKING -
You can park either at the main parking lot near the playground or in the parking lots near the football field. Please do not park anywhere along the road that is near a golf fairway.


RESTROOMS


A portable toilet has been rented and will be stationed at tournament central. The restroom at the football field will be unlocked.


CHECK-IN


Check-in is from 7:45 am - 8:20 am at the east shelter near the playground. All players, Pro and Am, need to check in. If you don’t check in, I will presume you are a No Call, No Show and you may be scratched from the event.




SCORING


We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system. (This is not Udisc). To access it, go to pdga.com/score. Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up. I will have paper scorecards as a backup. You can also use udisc as a backup. However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.

COURSE CONDITIONS / INCLEMENT WEATHER


I was planning on painting OB lines Thursday but was delayed due to rain. I was then hoping to paint Friday morning but there is a light snow on the ground. I’m now hoping to paint Friday after work. When it rains, this course gets very muddy. Bring extra shoes, socks, clothes in general. You wouldn’t think that I would have to say this, but there is a backstory. The tournament directors are not responsible for your brand new shoes getting muddy.


The tournament plays rain or shine or snow. If there is lightening, the Tournament Director will sound the air horn in three quick blasts and then repeat it again one minute later. If this happens, do not finish your hole. Mark your lie with a rock or a stick (something heavy) and seek shelter. We then suspend play until thirty minutes after the last lightening event. The restart time will be communicated by the tournament director and posted on the dgscene and facebook event pages.

All amatuer players will receive a tournament stamped Innova disc and a Driver Diver.


Disc molds and color choices are on a first come, first serve basis. This list of available discs is for you to help do some research ahead of time to make the process faster.

WATER

While there will be water coolers on the course I fully expect they will go dry at some point. You need to be prepared to bring enough water for yourself. The water on the course is a back-up.


BONUS PRIZES


ROUND ONE PRIZE: If you have the Hot Round of your whole division (not your card, but the whole division) you will get a Hot Round mini. They are not much, only a mini, but the only way you can get one is by having the Hot Round, so it’s kind of cool.


ROUND TWO PRIZE: If you win your card, you win a prize from the white prize box that is called the Toy Box. Typical items are sticker sheets, can coolers, license plate frames, etc.




LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2


We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2. Round two hole assignments will not be the same as round one. Round two will be found at the same pdga even link:

AVAILABLE LUNCH:

Unfortunately there will not be a lunch to purchase as there has been in the past. I would recommend you bring a lunch with you. There is a Casey’s if you want to order ahead for pizza, etc.

IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW

If you decide for any reason that you don’t or can’t play the second round, please tell Nova Politte, the onsite Tournament Director. This is crucial as it will affect others on how the second round is organized.




ACE / CTP FUND


If you paid into the ace fund during registration you are included in this. If you didn’t pay in you can skip to next section.


Thank you for participating into the Ace Fund. With all Maverick DG events, the Ace fund is paid out as large ticket items and not as cash. This is one of the ways MavDG is ‘maverick’ and it helps to pay for tournament expenses. I determine the payout items so that what is given out is higher than what was paid in so both the winner and the tournament benefits.


PRIZES:


Normally we have multiple items from the presenting sponsor for the Ace Fund prizes. At the time this tournament order was placed, large ticket items were out of stock. So we are substituting these items in their place.

As always, the retail value of the prizes meets or exceeds 150% of value that was paid in.


Please note: If there is a tie for first place in your division, we may start the CTP game before your playoff is done. If you super duper rather play the CTP game than for the First Place Trophy, you can always forfeit the playoff. I would ask you though - why are you playing in a tournament if not to win the prize of First Place?

AWARDS / PAYOUTS


To decrease the amount of congregation we will not have a formal awards ceremony. Awards will be given out as soon as the clear winner has been determined. If you think you may be getting a trophy, please stick around to take it home with you as we won’t be able to mail them. Unclaimed trophies can be collected at our Olathe, KS store.


PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check mailed to you to save fees, or via PayPal Goods and Services (winner pays fees) based on what you chose during registration.


AM PAYOUTS can either be redeemed via our webstore, maverickdiscgolf.com or in person ath our physical store in Olathe, KS at 600 E. Santa Fe St. Ste C. About 90% of our physical store is listed online.

All payout vouchers for all Maverick DG vended tournaments in 2023 expire 12/31/2023.


TROPHIES


There is a First Place trophy for all divisions. Additionally there is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Recreational (MA3)
