Welcome to the 2023 edition of the Longview Open presented by Innova Discs!
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL. WE ARE NOT HAVING AN OFFICIAL PLAYER MEETING…THIS EMAIL IS YOUR PLAYER MEETING.
If you are receiving this email because you signed up another player for the event, please forward this info to that player.
THANK YOU SPONSORS:
HUGE THANK YOU to Innova Disc Golf for their title sponsorship.
Thank you also to Kent Bryan and the Kaw Valley Disc Golf Club (Lawrence) for their ongoing work at the course.
DIVISIONS / DATES:
Everyone is playing two rounds on the day you signed up for. MPO, MP40, MP50, MP60, AND MA2 are playing on Saturday, April 8th. Everyone else (MA1, FA1, MA40, MA50, MA3, FA3) is playing on Sunday, April 9th. Both rounds will be on a shotgun start. Round one hole assignments have been on your respective PDGA event page. HOWEVER - Please recheck your hole assignments after you check in to make sure they did not change.
Saturday:

Sunday:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/65494
Round two shotgun start time and hole assignments will be posted at the same link above.
>> As a reminder - you still need to check in with the Course Director from 8:15 - 8:50 the day of your event. Check in will be located in the shelter at Hole 1.
LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW
It is past the cutoff to request a refund. If you cannot make it and notify me at 785-764-2229 prior to your tee time, amateurs will still receive their player pack. To cancel, text or call your name and division, with comment you are canceling to Rob at 785-764-2229.
PARKING -
The Corps of Engineers require us to park on only one side of the road. Therefore, park ONLY on the EAST side which is the side AWAY from the fairway of Hole 18. If you park on the wrong side, there is a possibility that you could be towed - at your expense.
Please do not park anywhere along the road that is near a golf fairway.
RESTROOMS
If you have played in my tournaments before, you know that I always ensure that there are portable restrooms at the course. I completely dropped the ball and forgot to secure one this year. I am very sorry. There is a restroom at the boat ramps which is at the end of the road past the disc golf course. I am embarrassed that I forgot this and am very sorry about the oversight on my part. I will bring extra T.P. to make sure there is enough at the boat ramp restroom.
CHECK-IN
Check-in is from 8:15 am - 8:50 am at the shelter near Hole 1.
SCORING
We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system. (This is not Udisc). To access it, go to pdga.com/score. Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up. I will have paper scorecards as a backup. You can also use udisc as a backup. However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.
Passwords:
Saturday: octopus1
Sunday: octopus2
CADDY BOOK
Hole lengths, pars, and OB rules are listed in the PDGA app while you are keeping score. The course rules are very simple:.
OB: On or over any road, parking lot, in or on shelter.
Water: Holes 14 & 15 is OB if completely surrounded by water. All other water on course is casual.
Simple caddy sheet:

COURSE CONDITIONS / INCLEMENT WEATHER
There are no known adverse conditions.
The tournament plays rain or shine or snow. If there is lightening, the Tournament Director will sound the air horn in three quick blasts and then repeat it again one minute later. If this happens, do not finish your hole. Mark your lie with a rock or a stick (something heavy) and seek shelter. We then suspend play until thirty minutes after the last lightening event. The restart time will be communicated by the tournament director and posted on the dgscene and facebook event pages.
PLAYER PACKS
All amateur players will receive a tournament stamped Innova disc. Recreational divisions (MA3 / FA3) will receive a bonus Innova coozie, lapel / bag pin and a sticker sheet.

WATER
There will be a limited amount of water at the course. The water on the course is a back-up. You NEED to bring enough water for you to last the day.
BONUS PRIZES
ROUND ONE PRIZE: If you have the Hot Round of your whole division (not your card, but the whole division) you will get a Hot Round mini. They are not much, only a mini, but the only way you can get one is by having the Hot Round, so it’s kind of cool. See the TD if you won the whole division for the first round only.
ROUND TWO PRIZE: If you win your card, you win an Innova sticker sheet. See the TD to get your reward.
LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2
We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2. Round two hole assignments will not be the same as round one. Round two will be found at the same pdga even link:
Saturday:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/55290
Sunday:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/55298
There will not be a food truck this year. The closest place to eat is either Ozawkie 12 minutes north or Perry 18 minutes south. Both towns have a Casey's (pizza and hot sandwiches). Ozawkie has a couple of bar & grills but I do not know how quick they will be. I suggest you bring your own lunch with you.
IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW
If you decide for any reason that you don’t or can’t play the second round, please tell the onsite Tournament Director. This is crucial as it will affect others on how the second round is organized.
ACE / CTP FUND
If you paid into the ace fund during registration you are included in this. If you didn’t pay in you can skip to next section.
Thank you for participating into the Ace Fund. With all Maverick DG events, the Ace fund is paid out as large ticket items and not as cash. This is one of the ways MavDG is ‘maverick’ and it helps to pay for tournament expenses. I determine the payout items so that what is given out is higher than what was paid in so both the winner and the tournament benefits.
PRIZES:
The ace fund prizes are always 150+% of what was paid in for each day.
Saturday will have:
Qty 1 Innova DISCatcher EZ basket (Retail value $190)
Qty 1 InZone XXL retriever (Retail value $70)
Sunday will have:
Qty 1 Innova DISCatcher EZ basket (Retail value $190)
Qty 1 Innova Park and Fly Stool (Retail value $30)
Please note: If there is a tie for first place in your division, we may start the CTP game before your playoff is done. If you super duper rather play the CTP game than for the First Place Trophy, you can always forfeit the playoff. I would ask you though - why are you playing in a tournament if not to win the prize of First Place?

AWARDS / PAYOUTS
To decrease the amount of congregation we will not have a formal awards ceremony. Trophies will be given out as soon as the clear winner has been determined. If you think you may be getting a trophy, please stick around to take it home with you as we won’t be able to mail them. Unclaimed trophies can be collected at our Olathe, KS store.
PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check mailed to you to save fees, or via PayPal Goods and Services (player pays fees) based on what you chose during registration.
AM PAYOUTS can either be redeemed via our webstore, maverickdiscgolf.com or in person at our physical store in Olathe, KS at 600 E. Santa Fe St. Ste C.
All payout vouchers for all Maverick DG vended tournaments in 2023 expire 12/31/2023.
TROPHIES
There is a First Place trophy for all divisions. Additionally there is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Recreational (MA3)
