So, we have a bit of a problem. Douglas and Jefferson County got POUNDED with rain. Currently, parts of the course are not accessible, namely around the pond for holes 8,9,10 and another seven holes have either standing water puddled around the basket or in the fairway.
We cannot postpone the tournament to next weekend as the park will be used for the McLouth BBQ Blowout. Postponing it later than that will affect other sanctioned PDGA tournaments in the area so that is not a possibility either.
The high temp for Saturday is supposed to be 80. So while it may be wet, even rainy in the morning, it will be a warmer wet instead of a cold GBO wet.
These are some of our choices.
1. Play rounds of 15 holes as they are (skipping 8,9,10) and realize we are just going to get wet feet.
2. Ask for players to bring decent protable baskets (no cloth umbrella baskets) and where holes are really muddy around basket, shorten the hole by placing a protable that is not in the water. This will depend on how many baskets are brought.
3. Create a couple of temporary holes to lessen the use of the puddled areas.
4. Postpone until Sunday, 5/29, when the high will be 85 and sunny (read very humid) but low chance of rain and maybe some of the water will drain away. Even if it does drain, mud will probably develop as play goes on. It won't have time to dry out that much. If we do postpone to Sunday, we still will skip holes 8,9,10 and still may use some of the 1-3 ideas.
If we do postpone, refunds will be given for those that cannot make it.
