Welcome to the inaugural Kansas City Flying Disc Challenge!

This is the first big event during a holiday weekend on our courses! Please have patience and understanding. The courses are officially closed for non-tournament play. Please direct anyone attempting to play casually to your course coordinator. That said, at Swope and Blue Valley, we will be playing “outside the normal course.” There may be other park users; please work with them and smile while explaining the spor ... more

Swope update:

This will be the last major event at Swope before the process starts to finish the course as it was intended. Currently the course is set up in the normal configuration, and it will not be set up for the event until the weekend before the event. The layout for #KCFDC2021 has been finalized, and another map of the layout is posted in the pictures tab. All baskets at Swope will be Mach Xs.

Layout:

1. Long right (310'/par 3) - double mando. If you miss one of the ... more

Water Works update - Another of my no so hot maps, but it should at least give you a good idea. Water Works Park is in pretty good shape right now! The baskets will not be completely in position for the tournament until a few days before the tournament, as an FYI. There are multiple events at Water Works between now and #KCFDC2021. Also, a sleeve has to be replaced on Hole 2, and a new sleeve will be added on Hole 5 before the event. All baskets for the event will be Mach Xs.

Kessler Park at Cliff Drive update - Again, some trash on the course but that will certainly be cleaned up before the event. I'll have a workday about a week before the event to make sure the course looks great. Currently, it needs some snow to melt and a mow, but other than that it's in good shape.

Again, I'm not good at maps, but on the Pictures tab is a map of the KCFDC 2021 layout. We are skipping holes 1 and 2 and adding in two other holes, an old and a new favorite. B ... more

Blue Valley update - Thanks to Drew Neitzel for moving a couple baskets today and installing a new sleeve on regular hole 1. The basket on 8 still needs to be moved, and a basket will have to be installed on regular hole 1 when the concrete sets. There is trash on the course (as always, it seems) but otherwise looks good. A work day will be scheduled to clean up the course the weekend before the event. Please note: the day of the event, the baskets will ALL be Mach IIIs.

I'm missing the small black case for my Jabra wireless earbuds. The last time I saw it was at Waterworks. If anyone found/finds them text me at (660)998-5626. Thanks much, great tournament, ya'll!

Would we be able to pick up our player packs tomorrow?

Michael Krueger   May 28, 2021 at 5:49pm

They will be available at Kessler Park the rest of the weekend.

Michael Krueger    May 28, 2021 at 12:15pm

Yes, players can play any course on Friday or after round 2 on Saturday. Please note. There is an event at Swope, a one round C tier, from noon to 6 on Friday (today).

You said the courses are closed for the public, but if we are registered can we still practice on Friday or after the second round Saturday?

Is there going to be a post tournament playing meeting?

Michael Krueger   May 27, 2021 at 9:45pm

I'm not sure what you mean, but there will not be an awards ceremony per se if that's what you mean. The course directors will present the awards to first place in each division.

Miles Lemke   May 27, 2021 at 11:07pm

Gotcha that's what I was getting at

James Barry    May 27, 2021 at 1:41am

Will the Players meeting be recorded? I have to work that night so i won't be able to watch the live version

Michael Krueger   May 27, 2021 at 1:51am

Yes, that's my intent.

James Barry   May 27, 2021 at 2:27am

Sweet! Thank you!

Casey Hunt    May 26, 2021 at 3:48pm

Would my buddy from out of state be able to get on the same card as me for round 1?

We are both MA2, his name is Myles Crane Pdga#143914

If I remember. There's a lot going on. :-D

Michael Krueger    May 24, 2021 at 6:06pm

For any withdrawals starting now, PDGA guidelines will be in effect. https://www.pdga.com/rules/competition-manual/103 If there is a waitlisted person to be added, it will be 100%. However, there is ONLY one waitlisted person (MA1), so any other division it will be 50% until Thursday, when it changes.

I'm assuming that caddies are acceptable for the tournament, since everything has opened up.

Michael Krueger   May 24, 2021 at 5:51pm

Yes, caddies are allowed.

Ramon Trejo    May 24, 2021 at 1:47am

What’s the link for the YouTube player’s meeting for Thursday?

Michael Krueger   May 24, 2021 at 2:08am

I'll send an email and post the link in a couple days.

Ramon Trejo   May 24, 2021 at 2:22am

Thanks!

I’m in the air on if I can make it out to KC next weekend. When would I need to cancel by for a refund?

I abide by the PDGA recommendations to a point. As of today, I have refunded 100%. As of Saturday, I'll start to refund 50%. As of Thursday, I'll refund 25%.

Michael Krueger   May 21, 2021 at 1:46am

Of course, that assumes the spot is not filled. Currently, the tournament is full - no wait list- for all am divisions. There is room for some pro players.

Kyle Hanner   May 21, 2021 at 4:42pm

Thank you for the info. Hoping to make it out there soon. Cheers!

Douglas Huff    March 12, 2021 at 7:52pm

When will the courses be set to the pin locations for the tournament?

Michael Krueger   March 12, 2021 at 8:09pm

Hi Douglas - That's a tough question to answer. There should be an opportunity to play Swope in the configuration for the tournament in a couple weeks, but it will go back to its “normal” configuration until about a week before the tournament, likely the Saturday before. Blue Valley ... more

While we are using the new Swope Park DGC, this will be the last event before additional renovations happen on the property. Please read the information at https://gofund.me/bd2e9bc1, and donate if you can. Thank you.
