The annual club championship will be played on November 7th and 8th. While we do crown club champions, this event is for club members to gather and play disc golf; it is not PDGA-sanctioned, and it is a great way for new players to meet and compete in a low-stakes environment.
When & Where. On Saturday we will have 36 holes of golf at Rosedale Disc Golf Course in Kansas City, Kansas. Eighteen holes Up Top and 18 holes Down Under. Shotgun starts will be at 9:00 am and approximately 1:30 pm. On Sunday, we will cross the state line to crown our champions at Wilbur Young Park in Blue Springs, Missouri, with 18 holes of championship golf. Participants that played both rounds on Saturday will be divided into flights based on their Saturday score and play on Sunday tee times. Members that did not play one or both rounds on Saturday can still compete on Sunday with flex starts between 8am and 11am.
We encourage everyone to play all 3 rounds, but you can participate by playing any one round or any two round combination as well. The overall club champion will be the lowest gross score from any player who completed all 3 rounds. The women’s club champion will be the lowest gross score from any woman that played 2 rounds (Rosedale Up Top and Wilbur Young). Women are, of course, welcome to play all 3 rounds to compete for a higher overall placement (and better bag tag) or just to have fun, but the Down Under score will not count toward the women’s club championship.
Be a Member. There is no entry fee for the event; you only need to be a current club member through the end of 2020. You can check here for your current membership status. If you are not a current member, signing up now provides immediate membership extending throughout all of next year until December 31, 2021. What are the benefits of membership? First, your membership supports the all-volunteer organization that maintains our courses and coordinates our local events. Your membership also gets you discounts at all club leagues and events, and will earn you a current KCDG Bag Tag. We will award 2021 Bag Tags on the basis of your finish in this event; however you must renew through the end of 2021 in order to earn your Bag Tag rank.
Please Pre-Register. We are asking everyone who intends to play to pre-register on Disc Golf Scene. Wyandotte County Parks and Rec does not allow large gatherings due to current Covid restrictions, so we strongly prefer you sign up in advance so we do not have to gather for registration, check-in or players meetings. There is no cost to pre-register. Just follow the link and let us know you are planning on playing, identify which rounds you plan to play, and let us know if you have any preference regarding who you want to play with in the unflighted rounds. If you are not a current member or wish to renew through the end of 2021, you can sign up on the club site, or choose the membership options under “Additional Items” on Disc Golf Scene. less
