About this tournament
1 round of play
Welcome to a Woman's Team challenge at Oak Grove! This is the 2nd event in the Birds in Paradise Series. This event is a one day (non-rated) women's only team event. The formats are "Silver Medal" & Alternate Doubles.
FORMING A TEAM:
The team's total rating points may not exceed 3,000. Ratings will be based off of Jan 2026 results. If a player does not have an active PDGA membership for a rating the TD's will assign a rating. Each team member will be given a letter of A, B, C, or D according to their rating on the team. The highest rated player is the A player and the lowest rated player is the D player.
- What if you have a fully formed team? Great! You will need a team name and each team member registers separately. Make sure you spell the team names the same (case sensitive)
- Don't have a team? If you open to meeting other women and would like us to form a team for you: Perfect! Sign up as team "TBD" and a team will be created for you :-)
SILVER MEDAL FORMAT (10 holes, 2 teams per hole)
Silver Medal is a disc golf group game designed for team play. The intention of the format is to optimize the engagement of all team members while also streamlining play by discarding less favorable lies.
Choice of team throwing order for the first hole is determined by disc flip. Team throwing order for subsequent holes is determined conventionally by team scores on previous holes.
For each shot, teams may throw in whatever order they believe to be strategically beneficial.
After all of the teammates have made their initial drives, the team must then play from the lie that they determined to be the second most favorable (not necessarily the second longest). Similarly, the team must take their second most favorable lie on any additional throws (fairway or approach shots).
Finally, when the teams lie is within circle one they must make at least two successful putts to complete the hole.
ALT DOUBLES FORMAT (18 holes):
A/D and B/C will be partnered together in separate divisions
Alternate drives (one player to drive odd holes, the other one to drive even)
Best shot after the drive
PRIZES:
There will be player give-aways at checkin.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place teams with total best scores for both rounds. Ties require a head - head sudden death playoff. (There will be no cash prizes.)
OAK GROVE PARK RULES:
No drugs or alcohol. Be respectful to the park, each other and park visitors.

ABOUT BIRDS IN PARADISE SERIES:
Female leaders in So Cal are coming together to present a series of events run by and for women. Players will earn both participation points and placement points for the Series, building up to a championship event later in the year.
A BIT OF HISTORY:
This year the team challenge has been renamed the Jo Cahow Team Challenge after World Disc Golf Hall of Famer and Frisbee Queen and Ambassador extraordinaire, Jo Cahow, PDGA #004. Jo was an amazing disc golfer and female pioneer that held numerous disc golf titles before the PDGA was an organization. We honor Jo by naming this event after her.
POTLUCK LUNCH SIGNUP:
Open to all players and volunteers
