Hello all and thank you for signing up for the J719 Flex at Rampart Disc Golf Course. It is my pleasure to bring you all another rated round here in our back yard of Colorado Springs. This is going to serve as your players meeting as I am going to probably be swamped with check ins and other tournament stuff in the morning. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have before your round starts. If you run into issues during the round, you can always call me at 719-494-5897.
Again, a super huge thanks to you all for coming out and supporting this!
I also want to give a huge shout out thanks to Disc Revolution for their consistent partnership. They will be handling all amateur payouts, and have provided us a pretty sweet Discgraft GLO JB DG BUZZZ from the 2021 Ledgestone Insurance Open. This CTP will be for hole 13 and entry into it will be $5 per person. You are only allowed one throw, and the throw must be a legal drive through the mando to be eligible. I’ll discuss that more in the hole by hole break down but to get back to Disc Revolution, Casey and Sarah are great people and you should support them at
www.discrevolution.com Also look for them on Facebook and give them a like/follow.
The rules of the tournament are going to be PDGA rules, which can be found here at
www.pdga.com/rules and the course rules are also in effect. I will go over the hole by hole break down later on but the main important thing is that all competitors must be familiar with the rules of conduct and how to play the game correctly. If you are unsure of anything, feel free to ask your card mates before doing it, or look up your question with the word PDGA in it, and it should bring you some results.
The major rules I want to call out here is:
This is a sanctioned event, and as such, there shall be no drinking or recreational drug use while in tournament play. Smoking is allowed provided the other card members do not object. Be careful with fire as it has been really hot and dry around here. You can set the course on fire with a great score but just don’t literally set fire to the course with a stray butt.
Please leave any pets at home. Again, this is a sanctioned round and animals are not to be let free while in a tournament setting. Exception is to service animals.
Be sure to pay attention to the throws of not just yourself but of your card mates. Rampart has some teeth and has been known to eat some discs, so it is very important for speed of play to keep an eye on all shots. A disc is considered lost if all members of the card are actively looking for it, and a set time of 3 minutes has elapsed. The 3 minutes must be called and a timer is started. Here is the official rule for you to review
https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/80503
Again, I strongly encourage everyone to make sure they are familiar with the rules, or have some fashion of looking up a rule if there are any questions.

Parking
We are going to be parking in the northern overflow lot. When you come into the park road and are heading towards the course, you want to take the first available right you can to the northern parking lot. The back overflow lot should be open for us to park in, but if it is not, then you will need to park in the normal southern lot and walk over to tournament central. Tournament central will be by hole 13’s basket. I’ll have a canopy and some other stuff set up so that you can easily find me.
Checking in
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your tee time so we can make sure everyone is here. Come to the tent, give off your name, and I will mark you off. After that, I will ask if you have read the players meeting and if you say no, you get to read this email in printed up form. Hello future you that didn’t read last night’s email, have a great round!
Course
We are going to be playing the course differently. Instead of playing hole 1 through 18, we are going to have everyone start at 14 and loop through the course to end on hole 13. Hole 13 is the mando hole and will also be the Disc Revolution CTP hole.
OB RULE! If your disc goes out of bounds (OB) then you will play it where it was last in bounds. This is going to be true of all holes with the exception of hole 13. Hole 13, if you miss the mando, you go to the drop zone. If you throw out of bounds before going through the mando, play it where it was last in bounds, and you must still make the mando.
Hole 14 is 460 Feet. It will be par 3 for pro's and par 4 for AMs. OB on this is the sidewalk and beyond on the left side, and then on the right side of the fairway is a ditch. If you go over the ditch, you are out of bounds.
At this point you will walk around to hole 15. I would prefer that you walk around and use the sidewalk and not cut through the grass field.
Hole 15 is 400 feet, par 3. Out of bounds is the sidewalk path on the left and beyond. Please make sure the walkway is free of pedestrians before doing your throw. it is also encouraged to have someone on the card spot so that there is no lost discs or backup.
Hole 16 303 feet, par 3. Out of bounds is again the sidewalk on the left and beyond, and behind the basket is a drainage ditch. If you end up in the ditch or beyond, you are OB.
Hole 17 464 feet, par 4 for ams, par 3 for pros. Out of bounds is sidewalk left and beyond and the drainage ditch on the right.
Hole 18 205 feet, par 3. The parking lot and beyond is out of bounds.
Hole 1 194 feet, par 3, no OB
Hole 2 210 feet, par 3, no OB
Hole 3 400 feet, par 3, there is a ditch that runs in the middle of the fairway, if you land in it, you are out of bounds. If you land before or after it, you are safe. On the back left, there is a softball field, if you land in that, you are out of bounds as well.
Hole 4 270 feet, par 3, softball field is out of bounds
Hole 5 390 feet, par 3, sidewalk left and beyond is OB
Hole 6 214 feet, par 3, In the ditch or beyond is OB. This runs behind the basket so a touch shot is required
Hole 7 219, par 3, no OB
Hole 8 310, no OB, par 3. You will be teeing off from where the sidewalk ends to the south. Go to 8's dirt tee box, turn around, and you should see the sidewalk path ending. It will also be flagged. Please wait for anyone on 9's tee box to tee off before you throw.
Hole 9 350, par 3, OB is the left walking path and beyond
Hole 10 178 feet, par 3. Play from the concrete tee box. if you go over the ridge left of the basket, you are out of bounds. Make sure that there is no one on the hole before you play it, as it is a blind shot.
Hole 11 315 feet, par 3. Out of bounds is the left ridge and beyond, as well as the sidewalk on your right and beyond. Do not throw when there are pedestrians on the sidewalk
Hole 12 352 feet, par 3. The steep ridge on the left is out of bounds. The scrub oaks are in, so long as you do not dip below the ridge line
Hole 13 254 feet, par 3. the mando hole. Players shots must make it between the poles and below the rope. This does not have to be the tee shot. If you lay it up, you can make your shot through the gap easier, but if you miss the mando at any point, you must proceed to the drop zone with a stroke penalty. There is out of bounds left with the ridge/water line as well as the parking lot. Sidewalk right and beyond is also out, but that would be a crush.
There will be a paper version of this hole by hole instruction given to every card at tournament central.
If there is anything that is not clear here, please feel free to let me know before your round has started.
Side games!
We are going to have a few side games going on for Sunday.
1st up is going to be the raffle. I have two $45 codes that I am going to raffle off for 2 winners. The entry for this will be $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, and $10 for 13 tickets. Max of 13 tickets per person please as I would love to keep this fair for other people to win and not just have some whale buy the stack.
2nd is going to be the CTPs. That’s right, we have two CTP’s going on during the round. You have your choice of the Disc Revolution Ledgestone Open Glo Buzzzz or you can enter in for I believe a Garret Gurthie Halo Wraith. It may also just be a standard Halo Destroyer, its far away from me right now and I can’t be bothered to look, but I will have both of those going at the booth. Both CTPs will be $5 each.
3rd if you are a registered PPFDC member and have a tag for the 2021 year, you can enter in for the Rampart Singles pot. We are not going to do the leagues on Sunday as originally thought, but we still want to give you the money. Just show your tag, pay $5 and you are entered into it. Get an ace, and you can take home $500. You can also do this as a progressive, and only put in $1 and take 1/5th the pot. $2 gets you 2/5ths and etc. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID 2021 PPFDC TAG TO ENTER
Payouts
The payouts will be done by Wednesday of this week. For Pro Players, they will get cash sent to them via PayPal. For amateur players, you will have your prizes sent to you via email from Disc Revolution.
Payouts will be 85% as this is a fund raising event to help pay for administrative costs and other future events, such as the Great Ones sobriety throwdown on September 11th/12th, or another flex start. I am eyeballing some dates in September and we could be going to Aviary or Cumberland Green. I’ll keep you posted on that.
In closing, I just want to again give my most heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you all for supporting this event. This turnout appears to be just about the same as the Widefield event but we haven’t even taken in one single walk in yet. This shows that there is a vibrant scene here in the Colorado Springs area, and if you keep showing up, I’ll keep doing it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
