Good morning!
I wanted to get this tournament email out this morning. Cheryl and I are super excited about In-The-Pin-Dence Day 4.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or
comments before the event.
The event is Saturday, July 3rd at Cedar Grove (21208 Meadow Lane, 47041). The event was originally scheduled for County Farm, but was moved on June 2nd due to County Farm not being maintained regularly.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
8-9a - Player check in (it will be behind the garage)
9-910a - Player meeting
915a - Round 1 Tee Off
@1145a - Lunch Break (we will have lunch provided)
@1245p -2nd Round
@3p - Awards
@330p- Bonus Round for top 5 teams
It's going to be a fun day and event. We will provide lunch and cold drinks for everyone between rounds. Everyone will be in the ACE fund, if it is not hit during the 2 rounds, then we will do a throw off on hole #1 where winners take all. There will be CTP's for round 1.
Round 1 will be your typical "best disc" format. A quick reminder that this is where both teammates throw and pick the disc they want to throw from. This continues all the way into the basket. Round 2 will be "alternate throw". On your first hole, each team will decide who throws first. The team goes to that disc and then the other teammate throws from there. You keep alternating all the way around in that order until you've played all the holes. Why "Alternate Throw"? We have found that many times when there is a BYOP tournament, and it is "best disc" format, oftentimes one player on the team accounts for 75% or more of all the throws, while the other player essentially walks along. In "alternate throw", both teammates are accountable and are used 50% of their throws. Basically, it gives value to both partners.
At the completion of the 2 rounds, we will do awards and payouts. After that, the bonus round will start for the 5 lowest scores from the 2 rounds to take on Cheryl and Josh. This bonus round is where the scores are reset and it's a winner take all $150. The lowest 5 scores can be from any divisions. The format for the bonus round will be: Holes 1-4 Alternate Shot, Holes 5-10 Best Disc, Holes 11-15 Alternate Shot, and Holes 16-20 Best Disc.
A few things to remember since this is the first tournament we've had here since last Fall. When you arrive, please park up next to the garage gravel area, or in front of the house. I will be out there to direct cars. I will have a row of cones set up. It's important that everyone parks towards the house and not outside the cones. The big grassy area in front of our house will be tempting to go out and rip a few warm up shots. Please don't, because even though it looks like our yard, it is not. In order to have events here, we need to stay off our neighbors properties.
As far as the course goes, it is in pretty good shape. We've received some rain the past few days, but there are no issues or concerns. You will find many changes and upgrades since most of you have been here previously. We have almost completed the tee pad upgrades. Most are now 4'x10'. The layout is much better this year than the last. The feedback has been really awesome with the 20 holes we will play. You will find a few holes with Mandos. Yes, I do like to present a challenge, but these are in place to provide safety for others (by not throwing over other holes) and/or to prevent/limit discs going on to neighbors properties.
It's going to be a great day. We are super excited to have everyone out. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
We will see you Saturday!
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
