In preparation for Saturday
It will be HOT. 92 and low to no breeze. BRING WATER. Brent Faubert has graciously donated 8 cases of water, and there will be water cooler stations around the course, but I recommend bringing more with you. And since the floods, the mosquitoes have been pretty thick at times. Mosquito Control sprayed a few days ago, but I do recommend bringing bug spray for the back nine, just in case.
The bathrooms are closed, however there are some porta johns around the park.
As far as lunch is concerned, you have some options. First and foremost, Riverfront Grille is offering our registrants the opportunity to get a 12 inch one topping pizza for $7. You just need to let us know what you want on it and pay when you register. We will relay orders to RFG, and it will be delivered at noon when the break between rounds happens. On top of that, with your wristband you will get for being in the tourney, they’re also offering half off your first drink if you head there afterwards. I know I’ll be heading there for a beer on the patio afterwards. Join in. It’s just down the street. Aside from that, the Malt Shoppe is now open. Subway is down the street a little further. There is a Little Caesars, Hungry Howies, and a Chinese restaurant in the same area as the Subway. McDonalds is at the corner of 52/57. Outside of those options, there is a gas station, Dollar General, and a grocery store in town too.
BRING BACKUP DISCS. There are a few holes that commonly claim discs from players. 9, for instance, does it a lot being right along the river. With 96 players out there, we need to keep things moving. If you lose a disc, spend your 3 minutes, move on, and come back to look during the break. If you plan ahead, we can avoid backups on the pads. PLEASE USE SPOTTERS on holes that you think you may need them on. Better to spend thirty seconds getting a spotter in place than 3 minutes wasted looking.
This is a fundraiser. We want this to be a fun event that brings in funds for the course. We all win. Please be courteous to other players. If you’re unsure about something, whether it's playing music during the round or a ruling on OB, ask your card. As for drinking, Travis and I are not going to tell anybody to put it away. But you need to be an adult and be responsible. Again, ask your card mates. If you cause a problem because of it, there will be no hesitation to release your team from the tournament. I don’t foresee this as an issue, just wanted to put it out there.
One last thing, if you pack it in, pack it out. Please clean up after yourselves and keep the park clean.
