I just sent the following email to all registered players and waitlisters:
Hi, all;
Looking ahead to Sunday, we have the following: close to freezing overnight temps, moisture the day before, 25* dew point, 10 mph winds, only partial cloud cover. This makes it at least somewhat likely that we will encounter a frost delay. Frost delays prevent us from setting up the course as well as preventing play from beginning.
Normally, we'd be doing a shotgun start and we would just wait it out. Unfortunately, that won't work unless we want to be well over the gathering limit in the parking lot as we stand by. So, instead, I'm being proactive.
I have shortened the gap between tee times to 12 minutes and moved the event start down by two hours. This should give us plenty of time to get the frost taken care of and for us to set up the baskets. We also will be changing the layout so that we only have to place nine baskets, meaning a far faster setup time.
Please check out your adjusted tee times on Disc Golf Scene and on PDGA.com and contact me ASAP if there are any problems. Additionally, projected PRO payouts - $100 to the winner of MPO - are posted on the PDGA event page.
Thank you for understanding the situation. It is my hope that this will be the last event at Lake Ridge that involves temporary baskets, though (which means future frost delays won't have to price in course setup).
Cheers,
Sully
