Does it matter, or would it be more appropriate for me to be in the MA40 bracket? I am currently listed as MA3. This is my first go at a tournament and I am 42 and have no rating.

Traditionally, MA40 is more competitive...but that's not always the case. You will often find players rated well into the 900s in MA40. The cap for MA3 is 899 rated. Personally, I enjoy playing MA40 a lot more, even though I am only rated 850ish. You won't find the the non-pdga 'baggers' in MA40, that you see all the time in MA3.

Thank you for those thoughts. I have no expectations of winning any tournament, but i do not want to shoot myself in the foot either. I am out to have fun, learn a bit, and compete on the level that supports such efforts.
