I sent the following email to the address each of you provided at registration:
All;
It's almost Duck time! This is the first of a few emails I'll be sending out this week as we lead up to Rice Properties Group's Duck Golf 38. Draft tee times are posted, but they will not be final until you get my Wednesday email with the players' meeting video around 9pm on 11/11. That said, your divisions are about 95% likely to stay in the general time blocks where they're currently slated.
Maps of Campside and Parkside, scorecards, and caddy book are all attached for your reference.
Campside is open for practice from 8:30am-4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. You will not be able to practice on Thursday, because of Duck Hunt (formerly Voorhees). Please observe the following when playing:
Don't litter and pack out ALL trash. The dumpsters are all empty for the season.
Remember that drinking is not allowed in the park. Marijuana is decriminalized in Virginia, but that's not allowed, either. I am stridently pro-legalization, but I will not look kindly on flouting the park's requests and regulations.
To get to Campside, enter at Burke Lake's main entrance, and at the four-way intersection near the information center, make a left (signage should indicate you're turning toward the campgrounds). Drive until you get to the campground entrance. Your way will be blocked by an orange barrel. Move the barrel, drive through, and replace the barrel behind you. This is crucial; otherwise, we will get people driving through to fish, picnic, etc. Once through, drive down until you see cars on your left. Park on the left shoulder as close as is practicable to the first car you see. Do not park on the left. Do not block the turnaround. Do not blow through the cones and park in the gravel lot.
Parkside is the regular Burke Lake course from longs, EXCEPT that we slice off holes 1-6 and replace them with the six Field Holes, lettered A-F. The Field Holes are flagged, but will not have baskets for play until the event (I am working on a practice day Friday). You can, however, walk them and review them in last year's player meeting video (there's music but no dialogue; keyed to start at Field Hole walkthroughs). Do not throw the Field Holes if any park patrons are on the hole; outside of the event, all other patrons have right of way.
On Parkside, like Campside, follow all park rules and regulations, except that you may deposit trash in the cans and dumpsters.
Parkside restrooms are in the ice cream shop (restrooms are accessible even though the shop is closed). Campside restrooms are either the bath house near 14 and 16's baskets or a Port-A-Jon that will be delivered to the handicapped space behind the camp store.
More details to come this week; please watch your email!
Cheers,
Sully, Jess, and Nolan
