Hey All!
I'm just dropping a line to let everyone know about our modified layouts for Weekend 4 of TDTMXII. See the notes below and please understand that we are still a "work in progress" from making all of the necessary changes from the Chess.com Invitational weekend to a more suitable course for our events.
Olympus Blues - TDTMXII Modified
2 - Red Carpet Tee to Blue Basket
4 - To Short Temp Blue Pin (already in place)
5 - To Temp Blue Basket
8 - To Long Pin
9 - To Short Pin
15 - To Short Blue Pin
16 - Red Carpet Tee to Blue Basket
17 - To Old #16 Pin (Blue Temp Basket - should be installed on Monday 3/25/24)
Turf tee is trashed right now, more than likely will play from carpet tee below.
Olympus Reds - TDTMXII Modified
2 - Red Carpet Tee to Red Basket
4 - To Short Temp Red Pin (already in place)
8 - To Short Pin
9 - To Short Pin
11 - Viability of Red green will be assessed. If too slippery, Temp basket will be added below.
15 - To Short Red Pin in right side bowl
16 - Red Carpet Tee to Red Basket
17 - To Old #16 Pin (Blue Temp Basket - should be installed on Monday 3/25/24)
18 - Play to Blue Basket on top shelf
Turf tee is trashed right now, more than likely will play from carpet tee below.
Hole Specific Notes
Hole #2
The Turf Tee area is surrounded by a mud pit. Although there is a ton of mulch covering a lot of the muddy areas, it's just not an ideal location for that tee. In addition, it's basically in the parking lot and we do not have the luxury of renting any additional parking areas like DGPT did. Our solution is to use the carpet tee pad up on the hill.
Hole #4
Currently, the Turf Tee is caked with clay due to players from the Friday round of Weekend 3 trekking the clay up off of the path and then scraping their shoes off on the tee itself. If we can get this cleaned to a satisfactory level and simultaneously find a solution to eliminate the clay from the path up to the tee, we will resort back to the Turf Tee. Due to all of that being a lot of work and probably not enough time to pull it off, we will more than likely be using the carpet pad below that was hastily installed as an alternative for Weekend 3. In addition, that carpet pad may be moved back slightly if we can find a flatter, smoother locale and get the area knocked down with a weed eater.
Hole #5
Whoever painted/marked the relief area lines for DGPT/Chess.com should be fired. These may be the worst lines I've ever witnessed on a course. To avoid further confusion, we were forced to maintain the lines for the last 3 weekends, but I will be personally remarking the entire hole on Tuesday 3/26/25. The old orange paint will be ignored and replaced with white paint and the pvc stakes and whiskers will be removed and be replaced with white stakes.
Important additional notes: We will be marking the "pond" area as OB and all other parts of the canyon floor will be in play. If you land in the pond, move to Drop Zone with a penalty stroke. If you land on the canyon wall/relief area, move to Drop Zone with NO penalty.
Hole #11
This only affects the Olympus Reds layout. The slope where the basket is located became very slick during Weekend 3, we may opt to relocate the basket to the bottom of the slope behind the fallen tree where it has been located previously.
Hole #14
The Red and Blue basket positions have been switched from the DGPT/Chess.com event.
Hole #15
This only really affects the Olympus Reds layout. The Red basket location has been moved to the traditional "bowl area" on the right side of the fairway.
Hole #17
We are bringing back "old #16" and putting a Blue temporary basket on the top of the hill. It's a great shot/must birdie hole and the green is the highest point on the entire property. Both layouts will play to the Blue basket.
Hole #18
I was not fond of the changes to Hole #18 for the DGPT/Chess.com event. This hole is designed to be one of the toughest finishing holes in all of Disc Golf. Please refer to the attached rules sheet in the email that was sent for specific "how to play" info, but we have removed the "spectator" OB line in the fairway, removed the OB area on the green and the Drop Zone up top. Basically there is no relief, you must clear the shelf to the putting green. Both layouts will play to the Blue basket.
BREAKING NEWS - Terry Miller - The Disc Golf Guy
"T-Dog", as I like to call him, will be here to film and produce coverage for Weekend 4 of TDTMXII! He will shoot a feature card for MPO on Friday and subsequent lead card on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, he will shoot footage from FPO on Friday and Saturday and produce a video digest but will shoot lead card action for the final round on Sunday.
