March Mayhem has been rescheduled for the weekend of 11/7 and 11/8. This years event will no longer be a MDGO FE, meaning there will not be berths at this years event. We will however be offering those 18 berths at the River City Open. Amateurs will be playing August 1 and August second. If you were registered for March Mayhem and would like to move your registration to the rescheduled date please let Tournament Director Shea Abbgy know by 8 pm est. All players currently registered for the March Mayhem that don't request to have their registration moved to the new date will be given a full refund later tonight.

Statement from Grand Rapids Disc Golfers United regarding March Mayhem and Leagues

Hello Friends. In light of the recent recommendations from the CDC, The White House and executive orders passed by the Michigan Governor’s office regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are deeply saddened and regret to inform everyone of our decision to postpone our upcoming PDGA Sanctioned tournament March Mayhem Presented by Discraft. This decision was not reached lightly. All players who are currently registered for the tournament will receive a full refund. When we have more information regarding a potential make up date for March Mayhem or an alternate MDGO Featured Event we will announce it as soon as possible.

As well, GRDGU is currently suspending all league play effective immediately. The final week of the Jaycee Winter League is officially canceled and current standings are final with an announcement to be made on those shortly. The start of the 2020 GRDGU Summer Leagues, originally scheduled to start on March 30th, will be postponed indefinitely. It is the goal of Grand Rapids Disc Golfers United to start league play as soon as possible.

This is an unprecedented time in our nation’s history. We are deeply saddened to have to make these decisions and appreciate your patience while we navigate this incredibly fluid and ever changing situation. We will continue to update everyone as we have more information. In the meantime, please stay safe.

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING MARCH MAYHEM
We are planning on hosting the March Mayhem as scheduled. We will be making some changes to how we have typically run events in the past to keep everyone at as low of risk as possible of spreading the Coronavirus if in fact a player may be infectious but not showing symptoms. Here are some of the changes we will be implementing…

• We will not be providing a lunch. We encourage everyone to bring their own lunch.
• We will not have coolers of water available to refill water bottles. Rather, we will have water bottles available. Still, we encourage everyone to bring enough water for the day with them.
• We will not have a traditional player meeting. A player meeting will be prerecorded and emailed to all registered players no later than Thursday March 19. If you would like to verify the email given upon registration you may contact the TD.
• We will be strongly encouraging groups to designate one person as the scorekeeper for the entire round.
• No spectators will be allowed. Only players, caddies, event staff and media.
• Players will be given player pack disc rather than picking through the disc for the disc of their choice.
• Payouts will be pre bundled to prevent mass handling of disc.
All of this is subject to change. If any changes to the status of the event changes we will let you know ASAP. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
