Thanks for taking the time to pre-register for the NC Doubles Championship @ Rocky Ford. I encourage you to take a few moments to read this email; it will go over things that will help you prepare for the event. There WILL NOT BE A PLAYERS’ MEETING! READ OVER THIS INFORMATION, IN PARTICULARE THE ‘9&9 Rules’. Playing ANY FORMAT wrong will result in penalties and possible disqualification.
WEATHER NOTE: It looks like we are getting a break with the rain this weekend. I am watching the weather close folks to make the best decision for tournament play and safety.
With the field being all in 1 pool and relatively small it will be easy to notify all of you about any changes.
There may be some course play changes and format adjustments within 30 minutes of the round.
These decisions will be made based on projected weather forecast and what we are dealing with during the day.
MA40 DIVISION – It seems a MA3 team has rated out of MA3 and is forced to play MA2. It would be nice if MA40 as a division would change to MA2 to create true division of competition.

13. NC Double Championship Format and Play Rules
NC Double Championship Format and Play Rules
Round 1 – Alternate Shot –
In Alternate Shot, only one sequence of throws is made on each hole.
The team selects a player to throw the tee shot at the beginning of the round. The other player then throws from the subsequent lie and play alternates in that fashion until the round is completed. The player that ‘holes out’ WILL NOT tee off on the next hole.
If the wrong player on a team throws, another team must call it immediately, like a foot fault. The team receives a warning, and the correct player throws. Subsequent violations incur a one-throw penalty.
• Any re-throw violations, the same player re-throws
• In case of injury or DQ, the remaining teammate plays under regular singles rules
Round 2 – 9&9
THE HOLES USED ARE THE NUMBERED HOLES ON THE COURSE, NOT YOUR FIRST 9 HOLES, ie…you may start on hole 3 which would mean holes 3-9 as Best Score, 10-18 as Best Shot and then return to Tough Shot on holes 1&2.
FORMAT - Best Score 1-9, Best Shot 10-18
Best Score Rules –
• Each team member plays the hole as an individual player.
• A team completes a hole when a team member completes the hole with the lowest potential score for the team.
• The score for a team on a hole is the lowest score on the hole by either team member, including any penalty throws incurred by that player, plus any team penalty throws.
Best Shot Rules - – Both players tee and throw and then the team chooses which of the resulting lies to continue play from, until the hole is completed.
• TEAM picks lie they will throw from
• Lies picked up before being marked are lost. Team MUST use other lie
• If first player throws from wrong lie, second player MUST throw from correct lie.
• In case of injury or disqualification (DQ), player may play alone, throwing 1 extra shot per hole. 2 extra shots will be allowed on par 4’s, par 5's 2 extra shots . Only 1 extra shot can be used per lie.
• BOTH players MUST throw from the same lie.
Round 3 – Best Shot (Captain’s Choice)
Best Shot Rules – Both players tee and throw and then the team chooses which of the resulting lies to continue play from, until the hole is completed.
2 extra shots will be allowed on par 4’s, par 5's 2 extra shots. Only 1 extra shot can be used per lie.
• BOTH players MUST throw from the same lie.
