State Championships Players,
On behalf of our sponsors, event organizers, and staff, thank you for registering for the 2025 Discraft Michigan Amateur Disc Golf State Championships Presented by Great Lakes Disc! We are deeply grateful to Discraft for their longstanding support of the Michigan Disc Golf Organization and for making these state championships possible year after year.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, Great Lakes Disc, for once again providing all amateur payouts. The Mason County Disc Golf Organization has worked tirelessly to prepare the courses for this weekend, and we are excited for you to experience their efforts. Finally, we want to recognize and thank the private course owners of Whiskey Creek and Fairway to Heaven for generously opening their courses to our players.
Tournament Information:
First and foremost, if you have not downloaded the tournament app, we ask that you do so. It has all the information required for the event and we will be using it as our main way to communicate with you the players. When we update tee times, announce CTP winners, suspend play, etc. Which will all be published on the MDGO app. You can download the app here:
Apple Phone;
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/michigan-am-state-championship/id6618116471
Android Phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=doctor.disc.michiganAmateurChampionships
We will have the Friday Tee Times posted on Wednesday Night. We will post a notification in the MDGO App. You can also directly view your tee times within the app.
There is no pre-event check in for this event. You will check in at your course of play on Friday. The starter is one of the TDs at the course of play. The Starter will not be at Hole #1 in all instances.
Please refer to the following PDGA Rule, 1.04.E
"At A-Tier events using a staggered start with scheduled tee times, players must also check in with the starter no less than 5 minutes prior to their tee time each day and be present at the starting hole for the 5 minutes preceding their tee time each day. Players who do not check in with the starter by this time or who are not present at the starting hole for the 5 minutes preceding their tee time receive two penalty throws added to their starting hole. This is recommended for staggered starts with scheduled tee times at all other Tiers.."
There are two pieces of this rule that are in effect for all 3 rounds of play:
Part 1, checking in with the Starter. The Starter is one of the two tournament officials at your course. They will be at a pavilion or in a tented area near your starting hole but not necessarily at your starting hole. You must check in no less than 5 minutes before your teetime. You need to do this far enough in advance to make sure you have time for Part 2.
Part 2, being present your assigned starting hole. You must be at your starting hole of play no less than 5 minutes before your teetime.
If Part 1 OR Part 2 of this rule is violated, 2 strokes shall be added to that starting hole’s score.
We will be using PDGA Live Scoring where possible, where it is not possible, we will be using paper scorecards. The event staff will enter your scores into the PDGA website. The scoring password will be available at check in on Friday and remain the same all weekend. Plese remember, every player in the group must keep a scorecard either paper or PDGA Online.
Course Names. Some courses do not have a consistent naming throughout all the listings on the Internet, and it is beyond our control. Here are some of the alternatives you may find:
Beauty/Beast <---> Mason County
West Shore Community College <---> Labyrinth
Whiskey Creek <---> Whiskey Hills
Lake Michigan Camp <---> Fairway to Heaven
Payouts for all divisions will be posted on Friday. A HUGE thanks again to Discraft as being able to provide very nice payouts with a player package valued double the player entry fee is only possible with their partnership with this event. Payouts will be done online via Great Lakes Disc. If you are in a cashing position, you will receive a redemption code via email no later than 4 days following the event.
We will have water at all the courses. There will be no bottled waters at the course to grab and take. All water is from 5-gallon water jugs in two locations on the course. There are pumps on top of the water bottles that will pump water into whatever container that you want. This helps to reduce a large amount of plastic waste that the event generates every year. This should not be your only source of drinking water while you are competing. You should bring plenty of water to keep yourself properly hydrated throughout your round of play.
Speed of Play. Please be mindful of the speed of play per PDGA Rules. This will be enforced by tournament directors if necessary.
DiscGolfScene comments and the Facebook Page Comments will be disabled during the event. The only communication from the event will be either through the app or through PDGA Live Scoring (where available). This is so all information posted is in a singular location to minimize mistakes or errors.
Information Conflict. If there are any conflicts in any information provided, the Caddy Book in the MDGO App will hold precedence as the correct version.
Tie breakers for 1st place are detailed in the MDGO App.
Friday Play: There is a CTP Per Pool (free to everyone) & the Ace Pool tie breaker & Super CTP (extra buy in). These are listed in the PDGA Live Scoring App and the MDGO App. The merchandise CTPs and Ace Pool Tie Breakers winners will be announced on the app on Friday. Ace Pool and 50/50 will be paid 48 hours after the completion of the event via PayPal. Ace Pools and 50/50 are per Pool, not addative.
Payouts for all divisions will be posted on Friday. A HUGE thanks again to Discraft as being able to provide very nice payouts with a player package valued double the player entry fee is only possible with their partnership with this event. Each course is closed to practice, in its entirety, until the final group has completed their round.
Dress Code, even with this being one of the 10 largest events that will be played in 2025, it is still just a vanilla A Tier. The only PDGA rules that apply to clothing are:
All competitors and staff are required to wear an upper garment and lower outer garment, such as a shirt and pants.

Leviathan Hole 10, large pile of dirt is a casual area.
West Shore Community College has some deep holes in the ground near Hole #13-15. Use caution in the un-mowed areas.
Whiskey Creek has some aggressive terrain that could make using a cart difficult.
Fairway to Heaven has 4-5 holes that are not at all cart friendly.
General Course Information:
There may or may not be mosquitos or other biting/stinging insects at your courses of play. Plan accordingly.
Michigan is home to many “poisonous” plant species. You should become aware of them.
Please report any course issues (bees/fallen trees/holes) to your Course HQ as soon as possible. We want to address them as soon as possible and have staff available to do so. Also turn in any lost discs at the course that they were lost at the Course HQ.
Beauty, Beast, Whiskey Creek and Lake Michigan Camp are pay to play facilities. We are paying your fee for your tournament round. If you plan to play a practice round you will need to pay! If you are banned from a private course; you will not be able to play your scheduled round at that course. See PDGA Competition Manual.
I’m filled with excitement and anticipation to witness our incredible athletes to see who will rise to the challenge and claim the title of 2025 Michigan Disc Golf State Champion!
