Great Disc State,
On behalf of Chris Leo of Barrel Aged Disc Golf and Mark Stephens of Black Ace Disc golf, we would like to thank you for your patronage for selecting to play in our events this weekend!
Once registration closes at 5pm on Friday the field is set. No divisional moves may be made (unless mandated due to registering for an incorrect/invalid division). If you find yourself still on the waitlist, you will be refunded. If you are registered for the event, there will be no refunds offered after registration closes.
If you are only playing in either the Black Ace Flex Start or the Barrel Aged Flex Start or both of the events, we have an opportunity that we want you all to be aware of! Our outstanding merchandise partner, Disc Baron, will be giving away a free entry for a special Zuca cart raffle to all players that check in to play before 9am. If you are playing in both events, we ask that you check in to play no later than 10am so we can make sure that you have enough time to get both of your rounds in. If you are only playing in one of the two events, you can check in as late as 1pm (but it is not recommended nor do you have the opportunity for the free Zuca cart drawing). We also have another Zuca cart raffle with tickets being $5 each, you can pay cash or PayPal for these and we will draw this cart raffle around 1pm.
All standard PDGA rules are in effect. We are using PDGA Live Scoring. Each event Black Ace & Barrel Aged Flex Start has its own winner and payouts.
We have some water that will be available at Hole 1 throughout the day. This water is to supplement what you bring to the course for your use. It should not be your plan that this event is providing all the water that you need on this Hot May day. It is your responsibility that you keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
How this series of events all basically works:
When you arrive in the morning you will be coming to my table (Mark Stephens). I will get you checked in for your events and you will be receiving physical tickets for each of the Flex Starts you registered for. Each one is a different color so that you can more easily identify which event and layout is being used. The Barrel Aged tickets are yellow and will be playing the Original 18 Holes. The Black Ace tickets are red and will be playing the Jumbo 18 Shorts. You will also have an opportunity to purchase tickets for a Zuca cart that we are raffling off. Tickets are $5 each and we will be pulling the winning ticket at 1:00pm.
From the check in area, you will proceed to the marshalling area to find groups to play in. We will have a staff member John Norkowski assisting. If you do not have a group of people to play with already, you can use your ticket color to help match up with other people that are also looking to play in that layout. Once you have 3-4 players who are ready to play, 1 player from the groups goes to the starter at Hole 1. Your group can consist of players in any division as long as you all are playing the same event/layout.
Chris Leo will be your starter for both events. Groups that are ready to play will let Chris know that they are ready to play and what layout they are playing. Chris will take your name down and let you know when you group is set to be teeing off next. It would be a good idea to alternate what events tee off after one another for flow but it is not necessary. Once Chris has called your name and all of your playing groups on the teepad, Chris will collect all of the tickets and hand the group the information sheet for that layout. The color of this information sheet will match the color of the tickets. It will have the PDGA Live Scoring Information, the holes that are being played, the out of bounds, and they CTPs that are in play for this event. The CTPs will be on paper that matches the color of the ticket and the information sheet.
Play your 18 holes, paying attention to the holes you are or are not playing (Jumbo 18 skips many holes in the Original 18 holes). After that you are free to take a break of any length that you want. You can take a 10-minute break or a 110-minute break, heading back to the marshalling area when you are ready to play your second event (assuming you are playing in both events). Take in mind, our goal/plan is to have the final group tee off around 2:30pm at the latest. It may end up being later than 2:30pm dependent on course traffic.
We have a rolling ace pool between both events. If there is an ace in either event, the ace pool from both events will combine for payout and all aces will split evenly. If there is no ace, each event has an Ace Pool CTP and all the cash in that specific ace pool will be paid out to the winner. All pro payouts, 50/50, or Ace Pool payouts will be made via PayPal the same day as the event. All amateur payouts will be done via Disc Baron. All cashing spots will receive an email from Disc Baron prior to Monday with a coupon code that is good for 6 months.
The free Disc Baron 9am basket drawing will take place at 9:30am. The paid Zuca raffle will be at 1:00pm. We can hold onto these baskets until you are ready to leave for the day if you wish.
For those that are playing in both event and are trying to win a berth to the Michigan Amateur State Championships, there is no need to wait around to see if you won one. The scoring will be calculated and the berth winners will be posted. As a reminder, the winner of each division, being the player with the lowest score in their division, taking both rounds into account. Your lowest score over both events is for the awarding of the berth only. The berth package will be mailed to the winners.
Thank you all for your interest in this event. We have put together what we believe is a solid event plan but this type of event has never been run in Michigan before. With that being said, there could be unforeseen things that come up but we have a solid event team and we will work through it I know!
