Good evening. Thanks for signing up to be part of the DND Glowdown Showdown at Lincoln Ridge on Friday night, July 25th.

Let's dive into some important details.

First, let's address the weather. Chris and Dan will assess the forecast Friday morning. If it is looking like rain at any point of the glow round, they will postpone it. We will then find another date. If you can't make the alternate date, you will be refunded 100%. Hopefully this whole paragraph is irrelevant.

Ok, now that we all have our umbrellas in our hands to ward away the chance of rain, this will be a 1 round NON-PDGA event. There is a Udisc event set up. We will do our best to navigate it smoothly tomorrow night.

Glow events are fun, and a lot more casual. Part of your entry fee gets you a glow disc provided by DND. It will be MVP or Kastaplast discs. Each player is putting in $2 for the ACE fund. If not hit, we will do a throw off. That leaves a little left over for small payouts. If you are coming to win a big payout, you are going to be disappointed, because that isn't the focus of this event. Each division winner will get a bag tag to celebrate your victory.

DND is doing payouts, and will get those to you normally in a day or so.

We are going to play the "Winter 20 lowers". We are going to play 18 lower/forgotten tee pad.
1-9 as normal
10 lower
11-13 as normal
18 forgotten
19 lower
20 normal
21 lower
22-24 normal

We will start check in around 815p at the shelter area. We will tee off when dark enough. Should be between 9-915p. We will have lights on each basket that will generously light the way. I would recommend using spotters on some holes, and make sure your discs are charged before letting them rip.

Glow discs are getting better and better these days. They also make glow stickers or duct tape that works well too on non-glow discs.

SORRY FOR CAPS, BUT SUPER IMPORTANT. WE'VE BEEN DOING GLOW EVENTS FOR YEARS. NOT SURE HOW MUCH MOONLIGHT THERE WILL BE IF ANY. PLEASE DON'T BRING OR USE REGUALR FLASHLIGHTS. YOUR EYES WILL ADJUST TO THE DARKNESS AND THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN GETTING BLINDED BY LIGHT AND THEN HAVING TO LET YOUR EYES READJUST. WE DO RECOMMEND A BLACK UV FLASHLIGHT. WE HAVE A FEW EXTRAS IF NEEDED. THEY CHARGE UP THE GLOW DISCS/TAPE WAY BETTER THAN A REGULAR FLASHLIGHT, AND DON'T BLIND YOUR CARDMATES. PLEASE DON'T BE THAT PERSON.

If you haven't played glow before, let the discs do the work for you. If your disc goes off fairway, try to find it without using all sorts of lights FIRST. Because once someone turns on a light, your eyes lose the advantage it had in the dark. Also, when someone is teeing off, please wait until after they throw before charging yours. It's hard enough throwing in the dark, without being distracted behind you with a light/disco show.

Ok, now that I had a little fun/sarcasm, let's get ready for a fun night. Seriously though, no regular flashlights or cell phone camera lights except on a few paths to get to your discs. It's glow, it's supposed to be dark!

Everybody should seriously consider playing this event. The first one was a great time! Glow singles tournaments are not common, so don't miss out on a unique event. All 20 baskets will likely be lit up with a variety of colored lights. If you have a small flashlight or a small head lamp it isn't difficult to get around the course at night. I use a baseball cap with a couple LED bulbs in the bill and that's enough to get around fine. For $25 you get your entry, and you can get a premium glow disc from the players pack as well. So you can't lose. It's a blast seeing all the baskets lit up on the course. As of now the weather on the 25th looks really nice in the evening. Big thanks go to DnD and Crossover for making these glow events possible at Lincoln Ridge. LET'S GLOW!!!

We will play a 20 hole layout that will be closest to the Winter 20. It will be:
1-9 as normal
10 lower
11-13 as normal
19 lower
20 normal
21 lower
22-24 normal
Temp to temp basket
(we will skip hole 18/forgotten and add in the temp hole to make 20)

This layout is the same holes as the previous glow event. Basket locations might be different, we will play whichever basket has a light on it.
