Good afternoon and Happy New Year to you! I am super excited that you signed up to be part of our Crossover Terwilleger Triples at Cedar Grove on New Years Eve (12/31).
This will be a 2 round, non-PDGA event. We will all shotgun start at 845a. Check in will start around 9a in the garage with Cheryl. ONLY 1 PERSON PER TEAM NEEDS TO CHECK IN. Just send in someone to check your team in, and we will be good to go.
We will have a brief players meeting at 915a out back . We will be using the old school big board with paper cards to track scores.
If you are not sure of the format an rules, please ask for clarification when you check in.
The format will be like this:
Round 1 - GREEN layout (shorts)
Holes 1-7 - Goldilocks (middle)
Holes 8-13 - Best
Holes 14-20 - True Worst
Round 2 - PURPLE layout (Intermediate)
Holes 1-7 - Best 1 disc only
Holes 8-13 - Alternate
Holes 13-18 - Worst Drive Only
Let's break this down a little bit....
Goldilocks - Everyone throws and your opponent will select your "best" disc of the 3. Your team then selects the Goldilocks or middle disc. What determines the middle? Your team does. You obviously aren't going to pick the worst disc. An ACE ends the hole.
Best - Everyone throws and then your team selects the "best" disc to play for your team.
True Worst - Everyone throws and then your opponent will select the "worst" disc. Your team plays from it and throws again. Repeat process until in the basket. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS TRUE WORST DISC. What does that mean? It means when you go to putt out, all players must make the putt. Say Player A putts from 15 feet and makes it. Player B an C then miss. The team then goes to the worst disc between Player B and C. Say 2 players make it and one player misses. They all play from the missed disc until ALL 3 players make it from the same spot. An ACE does NOT end the hole.
Worst Drive - Everyone tees off and then the worst disc is selected. Any OB, missed island/mando, etc, is always the worst drive. After that it is best disc until holed out. If someone makes the shot from there the hole is over. An ACE does NOT end the hole.
Alternate - On those holes you identify who is player A, B and C. When you get to the alternate holes, player A goes first, then player B, then player C, then back to A. So for instance, on the first hole of Alternate, player A tees off. Player B makes the putt. Player C would then tee off on the next hole, and and player A would go next. (if your shotgun start is in the middle of these holes, when you return back around to them, please remember who's turn it is to throw). An ACE ends the hole.
Best 1 Disc Only - Each player plays these holes with 1 disc. So each player has their own disc, and can only play these holes with that selected disc. It is "best disc" using those 1 discs. An ACE ends the hole.
Please note that Green is 22 holes, and Purple is 21 holes. Hole 11 is broken down into 11A, 11B, and 11C for Green, and just 11A and 11B for purple. When you get to the back tee pad, take a look at the sign if you are confused. For Green you throw to the yellow basket to the right. For Purple you throw to the red basket to the left.
The course particulars will be on the back of the scorecards. Here is a brief rundown.
