Good morning. I wanted to get this tournament email out this morning. I am super excited about the upcoming Frosty Fling series that starts this weekend at Harbin on Saturday, 1/6. This will be a 1 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 10a.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event. If you have any questions or issues in regards to the tournament, please text/call Cheryl at 513-348-6140.
PDGA live will have all the course particulars.
The PDGA live code: harbin16
(There is no need to log into to this until the morning of the event)
We are playing the original 18 holes with 2 temps added. It should be a fun and challenging day for everyone. The course always flows well. The temps won't be set up until tomorrow morning. They will be in between holes 18 and 1, and be labeled A and B.
We will be doing a points standing for the league again this year. Each event the winner will win a bag tag, and get to ring the victory bell. Each player will accumulate points towards the series points championship, where the winner will receive a trophy. Points are earned by getting 2 points participation for each event played in, and then a point for every person you finish above in your division. If you play in multiple divisions, the points do not carry over from division to division. This is how we have done it the past 2 years, and it works out great. Please note, that in order for there to be a division winner at the end of the series, the division has to have had a field in at least 3 of the 8 events.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
915-950a player check in shelter
10a - Shotgun Start
@12p Awards/Payouts
We will be set up in the shelter that is in between holes 1 and 18, and is closest to 9's basket. PDGA rules say you must check in by posted time or lose your spot and entry fee (1.04 A and B). So please check in by 950a, or you'll risk losing your spot in the event.
Cards will be made up with pace of play in mind. Some cards will be mixed based on numbers in divisions. In 2024, TD's are allowed to join a card that is behind pace of play and be put on the clock. Please review 3.02 for any questions. It's everyone's responsibility to keep pace of play.
For this event, the only free relief granted is if you are close to a metal fence/barbwire. In that event, you would get 2 meter relief from it. If you throw in the bushes/thorns/brush, that is not free relief. Please reference and be versed on what your options are and the penalty strokes that are assessed for taking an unplayable lie (803).
Also, just a reminder, that any junior younger than 13 must have a parent/guardian on their card. There are many juniors now signing up in non-junior divisions, so we don't always catch this beforehand. Please advise and follow the PDGA guidelines on junior players.
We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted on the PDGA page by 9p Friday evening. You can find them here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/76341
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a full refund, you must withdraw by 5p Friday (1/5) evening.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand.
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will NOT do a throw off. In the spirit of giving, the winter series all around do fundraising efforts, and Crossover is happy to help out with this again this year. For this series only, if an ACE is not hit, we will donate it to the North Dearborn Pantry. We have donated close to $1000 the past 2 years, and hope to continue to help others this year.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the layout from round 1.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put us in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
JT
