Good morning. Registration is closed and we are full at 120 players. Below you will find all the information about the upcoming Crossover Winter Classic #4 at Osage Grove on 3/7.
As we are a few days away from the event, we just wanted to send out a players info email. Hopefully this will have everything in it to answer any questions you may have.
I first wanted to address the switch from Williamsburg to Osage Grove. I always a week and a half out touch base with my intended course to make sure everything is good to go. This way, if there is an issue, I can adjust and make a smooth transition. At that point in time, we were at the melting stage of the 12+ inches of snow and the unknown of possible more rain. With the information I was given at the time, and the concern with the steep hills as safety, I made the call to move it. If you've lived in Cincinnati long enough, you know that you can't trust an extended forecast past 3-4 days. Obviously, the weather has been great and appears to be so the rest of the week. Sometimes as a TD you make the right call, and some times you don't. I do apologize for those looking to play Williamsburg. I will work on getting another event there in the next few months. I made the decision at felt best at the time that allowed the most preparation for a great event.
While I'm on a roll with "TD of the Year" decisions that not everyone agrees with, Cheryl and I have agreed that we need to stick with the 2 layouts that we have done in the previous 3 Winter Classics. So there will again be a MPO/MP40/MA1 layout that is more advanced, and then another for everyone else. The advanced layout will be all 24 holes, with a heavy mix of blue tees and the letter holes. Everyone else will play 19 holes (NO LETTER HOLES), all red tees. While the sun is shining and we are loving the 40's and 50's, we have to remember it is still winter. Shaving off the letter holes takes off anywhere from an hour, to an hour and a half plus of time (we don't need 4 plus hour rounds this time of year). We have plenty of events coming up at Osage Grove over the next few months that everyone can enjoy the whole 24 course layout. This weekend will not be the case.
The OB list, tees, and basket locations used, are all in PDGA Live. Here is a hole by hole description. For this event, everyone will start on "Hole 19" or "Old 1", whichever you refer to it as.

Since we are using tee times, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tee time. Please check in at the shelter with either Josh or Cheryl. There is a practice basket and driving range area to the side you can warm up. We ask that you stay off the course once the rounds begin.
I will be posting tee times this morning. Please note that they are a working draft, but shouldn't change much between now and
Friday when they will be finalized due to being full already.
