Good afternoon. I wanted to get this tournament email out today. Cheryl and I are super excited about the Crossover Midsummer Classic Combo, on Saturday 6/29 at Idlewild. This will be a 2 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 9a. The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event.
PLEASE NOTE- We will be setting up tournament central at the shelter next to MPO/FPO #5 by the pond.
The following will be in PDGA live. All course particulars will be in PDGA live. We have looked it over and are going to make a few adjustments to the layout. Don't worry, it's nothing drastic, and it will still be MPO/FPO, but we are going to adjust some OB's and such. We were going to do "surrounded by water" in the creeks, but the creeks are pretty dry. It's not fair if someone lands in a puddle that is about 5 feet around, and someone lands right next to it on dry rocks and doesn't get penalized. So creeks will be casual relief. Also, due to several events being there the past month, there are multiple sets of painted lines on some holes. To do the OB we would want, it would be an additional set of lines, and the last thing we need or want is confusion on one of the hardest courses around. We all agree the the rough and woods is enough punishment when it's going to be close to 90 degrees and we need to get thru 2 rounds.
The layout will be like this. It will be the MPO layout with a slight Crossover twist, and the same with FPO. It will be a great 2 round challenge for everyone!
Hole 1 - as is (NO OB)
Hole 2 - MPO to long basket over water, FPO to the shortest basket (OB surrounded by water in pond)
Hole 3 - as is with mando and drop zone (OB on/over any pavement)
Hole 4 - as is (OB surrounded by water in ponds)
Hole 5 - MPO long tee, FPO short tee (OB surrounded by water and on/over/beyond the walking trail to the right)
Hole 6 - MPO long tee, FPO short tee (yes, FPO doesn't always play the short tee...we are. Mando off tee on long tee as marked with re-tee if missed. Creek is casual relief)
Hole 7 - MPO long tee, FPO short tee (NO OB)
Hole 8 - as is (NO OB)
Hole 9 - as is (NO OB)
Hole 10 - as is (NO OB)
Hole 11 - MPO long tee and FPO short tee (NO OB)
Hole 12 - We will play the shortest basket in place, which should be the MPO/FPO basket. (NO MANDO and NO OB)
Hole 13 - Playing to long basket. (NO OB)
Hole 14 - (NO OB)
Hole 15 - MPO long tee, FPO short tee. (NO OB)
Hole 16 - (NO OB)
Hole 17 -(NO OB)
Hole 18 - OB only over/thru/beyond fence long
Please note, especially on hole 16 the 1000 footer. USE A SPOTTER. Take the extra minute or 2 to have someone spot, so they can see where the discs go into the rough on both sides of the fairway. That should be off the tee, and should be on at least the next 1 or 2 shots.
The PDGA live code: Idlewild629
The schedule will look like this for the day:
830-9a player check in
9a - Shotgun Start
Lunch break
2nd round
Payouts and awards
With having groups of 3, the first round will inevitably have some mixed divisions. The 2nd round will be made up of how the results were for the first round.
Per PDGA, every player must check in. If you haven't checked in by 850p, per PDGA we can withdraw you from the event. No one wants to do that. We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted by 9p the evening prior to the event. You can find them here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/81220
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a refund, you must withdraw by 8p Thursday evening on 6/27. Since we are doing cards of 3, it is important that you text or contact Cheryl (513-348-6140) or email us if you aren't going to be there, and if you decided to not play the 2nd round. It makes us have to scramble with having to have 3 on a card.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 45% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. AM's will receive Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand.
In 2024, all players are required to keep score. Cheryl and I have not been doing this accurately in previous events, so it's important we get it right. Score needs to be in PDGA Live or Paper. Those are your 2 choices. All scores must be submitted or the player not submitting will be assessed a 2 stroke penalty per PDGA. 30 minutes following the end of the round they must be turned in. So please submit and finalize on PDGA live or turn in your scorecards.
For those in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will do a throw off. The winner of the throw off will win the whole ace fund. We are now doing ACE payoffs electronically by PayPal.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner playing the same layout from round 1 with the same course particulars.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put Cheryl or myself in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
Josh, Kyle and Cheryl
