Good evening. I wanted to get this tournament email out this evening. I am super excited about the upcoming Crossover Masters World Championship this weekend at Boone Woods on Saturday, 3/30. This will be a 2 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 930a.
To quote George Jones and the event theme:
"I don't need your rockin' chair
Your Geritol or your Medicare
Well, I still got neon in my veins
This grey hair don't mean a thing..
My body's old but it ain't impaired
I don't need your rockin' chair"
We are super excited you are signed up to be part of this Masters only event. Yes, we might all be "older" where we qualify for Masters divisions now, but hey, there something to say about life experience!
Ok, lets dive in. The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event. If you have any questions or issues in regards to the tournament, please text/call Cheryl at 513-348-6140. Cheryl and Kyle will be your TD's for this event. Tournament Central will be at the shelter by hole 18's basket.
PDGA live will have all the course particulars.
The PDGA live code: masters330
(There is no need to log into to this until the morning of the event)
We are playing the original 18 holes with no temp holes. It should be a fun and challenging day for everyone. The course always flows well. It's a pretty easy layout with not much OB. The main OB will be on/over pavement and/or buildings. We will be playing the long tees on holes 5, 13, and 18.
A few notes:
-Hole 18 long is the first tee pad you come to. You would have to walk by it to get to the short tee pad.
-Hole 4 is played many different ways by different TD's. And that's ok. Here is how we play it. OB if you are on/surrounded by any concrete or pavement, or on the building. The card will agree where a disc last was inbounds and the disc will be marked a meter in from there with penalty stroke. We don't do anything with the poles in the fairway or the left side.
-Any disc that lands under a bridge, if a player cannot get a legal stance agreed on by the card under it, they can stand on the bridge due to verticality/multiple surfaces rules (802.05.A). If you aren't sure, play a provisional.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
830-920a player check in shelter by 18
930a - Shotgun Start
Lunch
2nd Round
Awards/Payouts
Per PDGA rules, it says you must check in by posted time or lose your spot and entry fee (1.04 A and B). So please check in by 920a, or you'll risk losing your spot in the event.
In 2024, all players must keep a form of scoring. This can be PDGA live, paper and pencil, etc.
We will do an hour lunch from the last card submitted in round 1.
Cards will be made up with pace of play in mind. Some cards will be mixed based on numbers in divisions. In 2024, TD's are allowed to join a card that is behind pace of play and be put on the clock. Please review 3.02 for any questions. It's everyone's responsibility to keep pace of play. I know we may be a little slower than the young kids, but please do your part to keep the pace of play moving.
For this event, the only free relief granted is if you are close to a metal fence/barbwire. In that event, you would get 2 meter relief from it. If you throw in the bushes/thorns/brush, that is not free relief. Please reference and be versed on what your options are and the penalty strokes that are assessed for taking an unplayable lie (803).
We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted on the PDGA page by 9p Friday evening. You can find them here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/77369
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a full refund, you must withdraw by 8p Thursday (3/28) evening.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand.
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will do a short throw off towards 18's basket.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the layout from round 1.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put us in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
JT
