As we are a few days out from the event, we just wanted to send out a players info email. Hopefully this will have everything in it to answer any questions you may have.
Monday, May 31st will be the event. It is going to be a 1 round event, with a shotgun start around 9a. We will play the the white tees and all 27 holes that are available (more on the below). The layout will be posted below.
Here is the schedule of events. Please note below where to park. Williamsburg will be preparing for their parade, so it is important we park in the area provided for us.
Tournament central will be at the shelter. The schedule will look like this:
8-845a - Player Check In
845a - Brief players meeting
910a - Tee off
Immediately following will be Awards and Ace Throw Off if not hit during the round
For all players who are in the ACE Fund, if it is not hit, we will do a throw off and the ACE Fund will be split 60/40 with the 2 closest discs/players.
For those in the 50/50 CTP contest, the 3 holes used will be 6 (Ravine), 21 (Island), 27 (Flag).
We will be using PDGA Live for all scoring, and then a secondary form of scoring per card (Udisc or paper copy). The PDGA Live access code is: burg
You should be able to see what hole you are starting on by Saturday evening in PDGA event page.
Cards will be made of of primarily 4 players. Depending on numbers, we may have to mix some divisions. We will do our best to make sure everyone is with at least 1 person from their division.
All Pro divisions will receive their payouts via PayPal and all AM's Crossover cash immediately following the completion of their divisions rounds. There will be merchandise on hand to exchange in the Crossover Cash.
It's going to be a great day. Thank you for signing up to be a part of it. We look forward to seeing you all Sunday. If for some reason you need to drop/withdraw, please do so by Saturday night at 8p to receive a full refund.
Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Thanks and have a great rest of your week,
Josh and Cheryl
From Jeff Armstrong about the layout and other course PARticulars:
Williamsburg course PARticulars for the Memorial Day Crossover Summer PARty:
IMPORTANT: Disc Golfers MUST park in the overflow field: Memorial Day Parade will be staging in the paved lots!!
• To keep it simple, we’re all playing the “White” tees (for those who have been around, these are the ‘originals’… though the course has some longer ‘Blue’ tees and some shorter ‘Red’ tees, we’re not using any other than ‘White’). 27 holes including the temporary ones in the field so our Memorial Day layout circles back to the American flag! With the Lane (5), Start Up (7) and Shelter (22) listed as par 4, total par today is 84. Expect to see a lot of folks enjoying birdies!
• Throughout the course, on or over any path, sidewalk, driveway, or shelter/structure is OB. Take up to one meter relief, add the penalty stroke, and throw (see Island hole notes!)
• Same applies for any disc surrounded by water IN the River. Casual water is not OB: find the first ‘safe’ spot back on the line of play and throw without penalty.
• As always, the player has the option to throw from any previous lie with a stroke penalty. Same for a lost disc (remember, a disc must be declared lost after three minutes of search by all the folks on the card).
• No “2 meter rule”: if stuck up in a tree or bush, your lie is directly below the disc. Finally, note the tone poles remain in place and should be treated as if they were saplings or bushes. They might affect 3, 4, 10, 15, 22, & 23.
Hole by hole:
1. 239’ the Grove: Concrete (only) tee, basket in ‘short’ position. OB path right, long or left. Disc must pass left of the mando tree (marked with an arrow): if you pass the mando on the right, go to the drop zone, & add your penalty stroke.
2. 319’ the Wire: cross path to mat (‘short’) tee, pedestal basket. OB in the river right, or on or over the path left.
3. 213’ the Ceiling: Concrete (‘short’) tee, basket in ‘long’ position. No mando from the white tee, OB river right, path left.
4. 266’ the Entry: Concrete (‘long’) tee, basket in ‘long’ position. OB river right, path left.
5. 509’ (Par 4) the Lane: Concrete (‘long’) tee. OB river right.
6. 243’ the Ravine: Concrete (‘long’) tee. OB river right, plus right of painted and flagged line. Come inbounds one meter, & add the stroke. Be careful if you need to get in or out of the ravine if wet!
7. 389’ (Par 4) Start Up: Mat tee to the left on path (‘short’), basket ‘long’. NO OB, but be careful if creek or hill are wet.
8. 223’ Stay Up: Mat (only) tee at hilltop. NO OB, but be careful if slope is wet.
9. 223’ the Mando: Mat (‘long’) tee up right. Must pass right of marked mando tree, else drop zone w/penalty stroke.
10. 179’ Choices: Mat (only) tee, basket long right. No OB.
11. 286’ the Meadow: First mat (‘short’) tee, basket in ‘long’ position. No OB.
12. 209’ Karl: First mat (‘short’) tee, basket in only (‘short’) position. No OB.
13. 186’ Lucky: Flagged dirt (only) tee, basket in only (‘short’) position. No OB.
14. 183’ the Drop: Mat (‘lower’) tee. OB in river long. Be careful if wet & watch for bare rebar on missing steps!
15. 183’ Creekbound: Concrete tee, basket to be moved to ‘short’ position. Mando right of arrow on tree. Miss to the left, add stroke penalty and throw from drop zone. No OB …this time…
16. 209’ Rocky: Concrete tee, basket to be moved to ‘long’ position. No OB.
17. 363’ Right Field: Concrete tee, basket in ‘long’ position. No OB.
18. 149’ Tough Up: Mat (‘short’) tee. No mando, No OB. Be careful (on the tee!) & on hill if wet.
19. 176’ Get Down: Concrete (only) tee. No OB. Be careful on hill if wet.
20. 469’ Toss Across: Concrete (‘lower’) tee. OB in sand volleyball or on/over playground sidewalk.
21. 199’ the Island: Mat (‘long’) tee. On the island hole those bricks are IN bounds (the OB line is the edge of the grass touching the outside of the bricks), so you’re only OB here if you fail to reach them…go to the drop zone, add a stroke.
22. 413’ (Par 4) Shelter: Natural, flagged (‘short’) tee beside shelter, basket in ‘long’ position. No Mando or OB, but…
23. 356’ Main Street: Turf (‘long’, upper) tee, basket in ‘long’ position. OB guardrail right (no mando, but please don’t throw over the road!)
24. 229’ the Gaps: Turf (only) tee, basket in ‘short’ position. NO Mandos! OB park driveway long…
25. 343’ Open Slopin’ (A): Concrete tee. OB paths, shelter. Big arms must be courteous about players on next tee.
26. 239’ the Path (B): Concrete tee. OB on or over path, and be courteous with pedestrians!
27. 233’ the Flag (C): Concrete tee. OB long on path OR on pavement around flag. Courtesy for tees in view.
