Good evening. We wanted to send out some info in regards to the event on Sunday.
Thanks for signing up to spend the New Year with us on 1/1 a Cedar Grove. The event will be 2 rounds. We have adjusted the format a little. Looking at the players list, and knowing everyone signed up, I don't think there would be an issue, but both rounds will be PDGA rated. If for some reason this change is something you don't want to do, please let us know and we will issue a full refund. But hopefully that doesn't happen.
For the day, we have a lot of fun planned. It will be a shotgun start at 10a. We will play the purple layout first, have lunch, then throw the green layout. During lunch, we might do ring of fire, a fan favorite.
The ACE fund is included, and there will be a few CTP's. For lunch we will have the options of chili or sandwiches, with chips, and drinks.
All in all we are excited about the start of 2023. We are excited to be surrounded by disc golf friends and family.
Oh, and one thing about the layouts. There has been a slight adjustment. The past 2 weeks while on Christmas break from school, there were a few course projects I wanted to accomplish. You will get a firsthand look at the 2023 layout. My goal was to make a few fixes to a few holes that I didn't like. The cold weather put a little damper on how much I got done, but the purple and green layouts are looking good. The blue layout will be completed next week. So let's dive in:
Hole 2 Blue - OB on the left was widened, and working on a wider line
Hole 3 Blue is still the long tee pad, Purple/Green is not shared (old Green only tee pad). Green plays to the same basket short left. Purple and Blue play to the long basket. It was shortened and is now a par 3 for all layouts. There is OB left, long, and right.
Hole 4 is NEW - Blue is a par 4. Green and Purple are par 3's. They all have a double mando about 50 feet short of the basket. There is OB left, right, and long.
Hole 5 is NEW - All 3 layouts have their own tees. Blue and Purple have a triple mando to make thru. Green does not. It is very tight with OB all over.
Hole 6 is old 5 and so on to....
Hole 13 is now 12 and 13 combined. We eliminated "hole C/13". It was not a good hole and was never meant to be adopted in the layout. So Green goes to the same basket. Blue and Purple now goes over the hazard area to "hole c/13 basket.
Hole 18 (hole after the heart) now just has 1 basket. Blue and Purple are still shared, but blue has a hazard. Purple and Green do not have a hazard but go to the longer basket.
It seems like an awful lot, but it isn't as bad as it seems. You all will love it. I poured concrete today for new hole 5. Fingers crossed with the mild temps the next few days is cures.
My new years resolution is to not make any changes to the course in 2023. I know that no one believes me when I say that, but I have fixed the holes that needed it the most (2 blue, holes 3-5 corner, 12/13 combo and elimination of a bad hole, and then slight adjustment on 18) to start the new year fresh.
Again, we are excited to see you all on Sunday. Have a great weekend, don't party too hard, and we will see you ready to take down Cedar Grove.
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
