Good evening.
I wanted to get this tournament email out this evening. Cheryl and I are super excited about Cinco De Flyo at Cowan Lake. This event will be on Sunday, 5/5. This will be a 2 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 930a. This is a COLT qualifier for applicable divisions.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event. If you have any questions or issues in regards to the tournament, please text/call Cheryl at 513-348-6140. She'll be the TD for this event.
We are playing the original 18 holes plus 1 temp hole. It should be a fun and challenging day for everyone. The temp hole will be after hole 18, and will be to the practice basket. We have used it every time we are out at Cowan Lake.
All course particulars are in PDGA live. The main OB is on/over the roads that weave around some holes, and surrounded by water in the lake. Any standing water outside of the lake will be deemed as casual relief with no penalty. This means, behind the water away from the basket. Your card should be in the discussion on casual water.
PDGA live code: cincodeflyo55
The schedule will look like this for the day:
840-920a player check by hole 1 in shelter
930a - Shotgun Start
Lunch approximately an hour after last card turned in
Round 2
Awards
Depending on how lucky you feel, I would plan on bringing a lunch/snack with you. There are some food options, but not many for only an hour lunch break. The show will go on with or without you second round.
Cards will be made up with pace of play in mind. Some cards will be mixed based on numbers in divisions. There will be no cards of more than 4 players for this event.
Also, just a reminder, that any junior younger than 13 must have a parent/guardian on their card. There are many juniors now signing up in non-junior divisions, so we don't always catch this beforehand. Please advise and follow the PDGA guidelines on junior players.
Another reminder is that everyone must keep score in 2024. Preferably it will be in PDGA live, but paper/pencil scorecards are acceptable as well.
We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted by 9p on 5/4. I would recheck again around 8a, because things change if people drop last second. You can find them here: Crossover Cinco De Flyo 2024 - COLT
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a refund, you must withdraw by 3p on Saturday.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand. All Novice divisions are trophy only.
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will do a throw off. The closest disc on the throw off will be sent the ACE fund by PayPal with what you used to register, unless otherwise specified.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the layout from round 1.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put Cheryl or myself in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
