Good evening. Cheryl and I are very excited about another year of Birdies and Blooms at County Farm on Sunday 4/28. Tony and Kevin Vincent have been working hard, and even though we are light on numbers, it will be a great day. We always choose this time of year to enjoy the Dogwoods and Redbuds blooming, and all the birds chirping with Spring excitement. We hope you find a few birdies in the baskets as well.
Parking will be on the grass. I will have the gate opened up. There is a bathroom on site. No running water.
I would plan on bringing a lunch. The closest option is a gas station in Manchester (5 minutes away) that has some options. Lawrenceburg and Milan are 25 plus minutes away. We have had several attempt this and miss holes on the second round. The second round will start with or without you. Please plan accordingly.
The address for County Farm is as follows. It’s sometimes referred to as Cedar Sentinels. Address is: 11701 County Farm Rd.
Aurora, IN 47001
It is important that I put in here my little pep talk on pace of play. With a shotgun start, there is no reason for any group to get multiple holes behind. Please do your part to keep things flowing. County Farm flows well.
Any standing water will be played as casual water, but it hasn't rained much recently, and I wouldn't anticipate any issues. There is no OB. Please make sure you understand what an unplayable lie is, because the rough is tough in spots. In the event you find barbwire fence, you get 2 meters relief. There are some scattered around the course on the edge of some holes.
Cheryl and I will be at tournament central, which will be the shelter. We will begin check in around 815a. We will have a shotgun start at 9a. I will post hole assignments around 9p Saturday evening.
Here is the schedule of events. The schedule will look like this:
815-850a - Player Check In
9a - Shotgun Start round 1
@11a lunch
@12p 2nd round
@2p - Awards/payouts
*times approximate after first round
For those in the ACE fund, if there is not one hit, we will do a throw off where the winner takes all. The closest disc wins. ACE fund payouts will be done electronically this year.
We will be using PDGA Live for all scoring. The PDGA Live access code is: blooms428
Cards will be made of of primarily 4 players. Depending on numbers, we may have to mix some divisions. We will do our best to make sure everyone is with at least 1 person from their division. With low numbers, we will relax the 3 minimum for a division, and any players by themselves will be merged into a division they qualify to be in.
All AM divisions will receive AM's Crossover cash immediately following the completion of their divisions rounds. There will be merchandise on hand to exchange in the Crossover Cash. Open players will receive their payouts via PayPal electronically.
It is on each player to know the PDGA rules and guidelines. It is on each card to make sure you are on the appropriate tee. It's easy to go to the wrong hole sometimes, so make sure the card confirms they are on the correct tee pad for each hole. Remember that in 2024, all players are required to keep score. Your option is PDGA live or paper pencil. All scores need to be submitted within 30 minutes of the completion of your round.
It's going to be a great event. Again, we are excited that you are going to join us.
See you Sunday morning.
Josh and Cheryl
