I wanted to get this tournament email out this morning. Cheryl and I are super excited about the upcoming Crossover Winter Championship 2022 at Millikin and Heritage this Saturday!
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or
comments before the event.
If for any reason (weather, change of plans, sickness, etc...) you need to drop, please do so by 8p tonight (Thursday) for a full refund.
Ok, let's dive in to the event particulars.
The event is Saturday, 2/26 at both Millikin and Heritage. It's a 2 rounder of 18 holes at each course. We will play Millikin first round, and then shift over to Heritage for round 2. They are about 20-25 minutes apart depending on fast you drive.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
8-845a - Player check in (it will be at the shelter that is located between #1 basket and #18's basket)
9a - Shotgun start at Millikin
@12p After completion of 1st round, we will give an hour and 15 minutes break to eat lunch and go to Heritage
@130p Shotgun start at Heritage
@ 4p Awards and payouts
We are not going to have a players meeting for this event. Tee off for the first round will be 9a (858a two minute warning). The 2nd round the tee time will be posted on the PDGA event page, as well as Disc Golf Scene in the comments, and Crossover Disc Golf Facebook page. These 2 courses are pretty easy to navigate tournament wise, and to make things more efficient, we have provided all info in this email for you. PLEASE CHECK IN. It takes less than a minute and let's us know if you are here, and also helps us make sure each card has 3 people. Plus, AM's will receive their players pack of either a putter or a hat based on what they selected when they signed up.
It's going to be a fun day and event. The layout pretty efficient. It will be a very friendly layout. Here is a listing of OB for both courses.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ON HOLES #2 AT MILLIKIN, AND HOLES #1, #3, #9, AND #14, ALL OPEN DIVISIONS AND MA1 ARE PLAYING THESE HOLES AS "ISLANDS". IF YOU MISS THE ISLAND, YOU TAKE A PENALTY STOKE AND PLAY FROM WHERE YOUR DISC CAME TO REST AND THE ISLAND IS NO LONGER IN PLAY. These islands are C1 and marked with pink spray paint. They are approximately 66 feet in diameter and are not meant to be impossible, but make a few of the shorter and easier holes a little more challenging.
Any standing water on either course will be considered as "casual" water, meaning you get relief directly away from the basket if needed.
Millikin OB List:
1 - OB over/through/under the fence to the left, long and left over walking path
2 - Open/MA1 Island - All other AM's OB is outside/over the walking path that goes around the hole, and gravel driveway long. If you do not land inside of this area, you must re-tee. You must make it over the walking path in bounds on your tee shot

Please remember that pace of play fall on each player and card. With an event that is a shotgun start, in theory all groups should finish reasonably close together time wise. Please keep moving. If you throw a disc in to any "rough", especially the bamboo at Heritage, please remember you get 3 minutes to look for the disc before a lost disc has to be declared. Speaking of the bamboo at Heritage, if you throw into it and you lose it, it is a lost disc and a penalty stroke and re-throw from where you threw it in from. If you get in there and it is unplayable, remember you can take an "unplayable lie" with a penalty stroke and move it back to give yourself a playable lie.
I will have hole assignments up by Friday afternoon, but just know that they could change due to players dropping/adding last minute. You can find those here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/56892
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will do a throw off where winner takes all.
In the event there is a tie for first place, they playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner.
At the completion of the round, we will do awards and payouts. As per PDGA, the top 40% will receive a payout. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand.
We will use PDGA Live scoring. The access code is: crossover
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
We will see you Saturday!
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
