Dear Zachary,

I use the term Dear because I think you do good work for the Disc Golf world and I respect that. I wish that you would consider your actions to discriminate toward older players by making them play in younger divisions just what it is... LEGAL DESCRIMINATION! You have stated the reason for your doing so is to "prevent age protection". As a former TD for the PDGA I was always encouraged from the Tour managers not to do what you are doing. And lectured of the importance of growing the sport and growing the PDGA membership by respecting and allowing ALL the different divisions in PDGA tournaments (A,B & C). We only heard of non-PDGA events or D-Tiers that went out of that realm although we never had a D-Tier. You can look at me and Jay's TD records and you will never find a tourney that Jay and I held that forced older players to step into other divisions if we had at least two players for that division (even though it was not a requirement). I know because I turned in most of the TD reports and corresponded with Jay and the PDGA. I admit there was discussion or at least thought to do so knowing that it would yield more payout for the best players (Which is what I believe you are really doing). Girls and Jrs we always paid out even if they were the only player in that division (Including Pro Girls). This was PURELY to grow the sport and certainly encouraged by the PDGA. Your discrimination of older divisions goes counter to what I believed the PDGA was ever all about. It defeats any reason to have divisions in the first place. We never had any complaints from players that had to play in another division if they were the only player present in that division. We did this on game day. Also, We never had any complaints from AMs because their entries ALWAYS included a shirt or disc of choice or Player Package allowance toward any other of our DG equipment. Our rule was always have the latest and greatest DG discs and greatest equipment on hand. You cannot go wrong by adhering to this advice. Only better reputation, turn outs and happier disc golfers await you. That's one older players (me) perspective of course.
