Hello Champoeg Showdown Players,
We are just over 4 weeks away from the launch of this event. And we are very excited to see so many people registered. We are hoping to see even more people join the party and make this something to remember. The Champoeg DGC has been hard at work getting this whole thing ready to go. We have the custom stamped minis that all players will receive in hand, and the trophy pendants the winning teams will receive are looking sharp! We wanted to take a minute to discuss a few things with all players before the event.
Parking -
We could see over 200 people in this event. And with it being a shotgun start the parking lot will be packed. We will be using the overflow parking (by the group campsites past hole 13 & 14) but that area will be limited as well since we are using half of that space to expand this event to 36 holes. We ask that all players that can carpool please do. And we will need to be mindful and pack in tightly in the overflow area. Please keep that in mind as you park.
Camping -
The club has the Camas group camping site reserved for Friday and Saturday night, the 23rd and 24th. If anyone would like to camp during this event let us know. The cost will be $10 per person, per day with parking extra. If this is something you would like to do you can reach out to us, either through this email, on Facebook, or on the Discgolfscene tournament page. Someone from the club will be out there as well so just seek us out and we can take care of the payment.
Ratings -
We want this to be fair and fun for all. In the tournament description we outlined the 3 divisions and the ratings level of each one. It has been brought to our attention that there are some teams that may have missed this when signing up and could have their team in the wrong division according to the rules we outlined. So we are asking that all teams please look over the ratings of your team players and register in the division of the highest rated player. Even if a player's PDGA membership has expired or it has been a while since they played in a sanctioned event, if they have played in an event in the past we can see what their rating was when membership was last current. We will use this rating to determine what division a team should be registered for. We can also use a local Team Golf rating to place a player in a division IF they do not have a PDGA rating. On the day of the event we have the right to move a team to the correct division if any player on that team is found to still be registered in a division that violates the guidelines we have established. If you are unsure feel free to ask and we can help make a sound decision. If you are needing to change the division you are currently registered in you can do so on the tournament page of discgolfscene OR you can reach out and we will gladly move your team to the correct division for you.
We look forward to seeing you all at the first ever Champoeg Showdown. I have added a map of the 36 holes as well as a write up of the hole descriptions. Just for clarity, Hole 1 for this event is the same as normal Hole 1 at Champoeg. The layout is active on Udisc for viewing as well. We will not be able to have the entire layout in place until the day of the event. There are flags out there currently marking the teepads and basket positions for the holes that are not part of the normal Champoeg layout. See you on May 24th.
