Thank you all for signing up to play Breaking in the Blues! Here's everything you need to know ahead of Sunday:
First off, a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to getting cement in the ground at VB. CNYDGA's course superintendent, Joe Comi, led the charge and community members came out in full force to get the job done. Whether you physically helped out, donated to the cause, or simply showed up to league and chipped in, the efforts were appreciated.
Another thank you to Meier's Creek Brewing Co. for sponsoring the event. They've put $100 straight into pro payout as well as enough beer/merch for there to be a CTP on Hole 14 for every card (more details below).
And thank you to our hole sponsors: Adam Haggerty, Karin Falcone, Mike Kraebel and Jeffrey Utton.
This is a one-round, flex-strat C Tier. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your tee time (which is posted on both DGS and PDGA). You can pull into the lower lot off Conners Road (past basket No. 15) and drive down until you see me set up at the Pavilion G on the left.
You'll check in there, collect your player's pack if you're an am, and then carpool with your group to the upper lot to tee off from Hole 1 at your time. Please be prepared to use PDGA's live scoring as that will be the official card. To sign in, go to pdga.com/score and submit the event password: 'BITB2021'. Keeping a backup card to double-check scores is strongly encouraged, whether that be physical or UDisc.
I am accepting day-of registration, but be aware that the morning tee times have very few openings and I don't plan on sending out cards of five before 11:30 a.m. (possibly later). Also, all cards must have at least three players, per PDGA rules.
So please keep the schedule in mind if you plan on just showing up Sunday. You can also message me ahead of time and I'll reserve a slot for you.
OBs (playing standard unless noted otherwise)
Hole 1: Pond on the right
Hole 2: OB island short of green
Hole 3: None
Hole 4: OB woodline left, road long and beyond
Hole 5: OB creek (painted; drop zone)
Hole 6: OB woodline left
Hole 7: Surrounded by water
Holes 8-9: None
Hole 10: OB long (DZ)
Hole 11: OB "river" by bridge (DZ)
Hole 12: None
Hole 13: OB road and beyond
Hole 14: Surrounded by water, road left and beyond (option to play standard OB or DZ from white tee)
Hole 15: Road left and beyond, fence posts long (space between posts is OB), surrounded by water long
Hole 16: Fence posts left (space between posts is OB), parking lot long
Hole 17: Fence left, pond right
Hole 18: Fence right
All non-pond OBs will be marked with paint. Remember, the line is not in bounds. If any part of the disc is in bounds, the shot is good. When playing around the pond (Holes 1, 7, 14), surrounded by water is OB. If your disc is touching any part of the shoreline, it is in bounds.
If you cannot come to a group decision, play a provisional and address the call with me after your round.
Some other notes:
The two-meter rule is not in effect.
You get three minutes to look for a lost disc. The clock starts when all members of the card begin searching. All members of the card are responsible for watching every shot in a tournament. It is not hard to lose an errant drive on a number of holes at VB when no one is watching closely. Consider using spotters for any blind shots, especially if you're unfamiliar with the course.
As mentioned above, Hole 14 will be a CTP for every card. Please determine which player on your card was closest off the tee and let me know at tournament HQ after your round. There'll also be a bullseye set up on that hole. If your CTP winner lands in the bullseye, they'll get their pick from the nicer Meier's merch.
Players can leave after finalizing their online scorecard and selecting the CTP. All payouts will be sent out virtually (PayPal for pros, Capital Discs vouchers for ams).
I think that covers it, but don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about anything. Thanks again for signing up. See you all on Sunday!
