Black Friday Ace Race / Ron Howard support

Disc golf singles tournament

About this tournament

This is an event that has a rich history going back 20+ years. Skip the Black Friday shopping, long lines, grouchy people, and the disappointment of probably not getting everything on your list anyway to toss some plastic with friends and chase those very memorable aces!

This ace race traditionally is a cash-based ace race, paying out all money paid into the pool to the individuals who record aces during the event. Another fun part of this event is the payout for DOTs. DOTs are defined as hitting the basket or higher without actually sticking to count as an ace. Payouts for DOTs come in the form of plastic that was collected at registration.

While a nice throw, hitting the pole for instance will not count as a DOT.

Choosing to Support Ron Howard
While installing new roofing (for free, not charging labor) Ron tripped while installing the roofing materials on the roof and fell to the ground, landing on a flower planter box & breaking his back in four places. Unfortunately, as a self-employed contractor, Ron lacks medical insurance, so he'll need all the help he can get with the impending medical bills.

Ron is valued member of the local Ann Arbor area disc golf community. He is ALWAYS more than willing to help and contribute in any way he can. He has always been about having fun, while also helping to improve the disc golf community one project at a time.

EVENT FEE:
$20 ($5 of which will go directly to support Ron and his medical expenses)
$15 towards the Ace Race event

We encourage you to bring a new, non-marked/inked disc to donate to the DOT pile for $5 off your entry fee.

FORMAT
We'll play two rounds at Mary Beth Doyle Park. There will be a short break of about 20 min between rounds to document aces/dots, as well as to refuel before heading back out for the second round. Following round #2, we will pay out aces and DOTs.

We'll shorten holes, aiming to make most of them in the 180-250 range (MBD is already ace-friendly....we will make use of existing tee pads where we can). There will be a few holes where there may be an alternate/shorter tee pad made available for the ladies that come out to play.

RAFFLE
It was also suggested that we could hold a raffle to provide additional support. If you have items that you would like to donate to a raffle, please post a message letting me know so we can have the table space available.

Registration starts at 10am. Tee-Off is at 11am.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for the Black Friday Ace Race.
