As we near the end of the 2023 disc golf season we wanted to bring something completely different for all of you to experience.
Currently all of your personal disc golf bags are likely pretty dialed in here in October. So this Ace Race / Birdie Bash required all of you to play with two of the exact same discs as everyone else! We featured two of the go to molds by the (very likely) 2023 DGPT Player of the Year, Calvin Heimberg.
Both the Rhyno and the Eagle will rip dead straight lazer beams if you can get them up to the correct speed and spin rate like Calvin does. He has seriously filled entire highlight videos with just Eagles and Rhynos. In my experience most players would benefit from learning the Eagle before they even touch a Destroyer. And learning to throw a Rhyno off the tee can teach every player how to trust an approach disc to hit straight lines with confidence. I hope you all found at least one throw of each disc as a personal highlight of your round yesterday.
As these discs beat in, they will only become straighter and more dependable for you.
(I am watching the DGPT Championships as I write this and Calvin has thrown some brilliant shots with his go to orange Eagle and some tap in alley oops with his yellow Rhyno.)

Throwing brand new discs that I do not throw made me feel like I was learning disc golf all over again. About halfway through the round I really started to learn how to trust them and felt much more confident for the home stretch. I watched the two players on my card make some amazing shots and Adam Smith made arguably the longest "putt" of the day on 14 from around 100' with his Rhyno!
I hope you all were able to feel connected to every other player out there yesterday. Playing with the same exact discs on the same holes as you. "Everyone vs the Course" indeed.
Playing a round with just two discs really is the best way to learn those new molds. Next spring when the latest and greatest mold is dropped from your preferred manufacturer, take it out and throw it on every hole at your home course. You will quickly learn if that disc should make your tournament bag, your practice bag, or the storage bag.

This brings the end of the 2023 event season to Beaver Ranch. Thank you all for being a part of these three events. It was an absolute honor to be a part of bringing these events to fruition.
Big thanks to everyone on the Beaver Ranch team this year - Brad, Dalton, Alec, Piper, Gower, Torch, Jimmy, and of course Dale. The course has looked amazing all season and all of these dudes deserve thanks for their efforts.

I wish I knew. I was the Earliest tee time and left immediately after. I sure hope they are posted here as I am curious on how it all went.
